Hi guys - was hoping for some help in regards to specifications on an uprated exhaust system for the 130tc. Im basically looking for something a tad 'angrier' with a little crackle/pop sympathetic to the character of the vehicle. Prefer low end grunt to top-end power. Its a weekend car, road-use only. The only modification likely will be either a K&N filter or gauze carb filters at some point.

I know nothing about exhausts but have a fabrication expert who can do any custom work for me. I would LOVE an actual Abarth exhaust just for posterity.

Sooo, looking on abarth-exhausts.com, they have the following;

An Abarth (not Fiat) SS manifold available, pictured, with 40mm OD pipes and a 48mm outlet pipe (to the middle silencer). If this is simply a SS replica of the existing manifold, I may as well stick with the existing manifold?

A universal end silencer (Abarth, pictured), non resonated. Probably a 70's period muffler.

My thoughts were to remove the middle silencer.

Any advise much appreciated. If anyone can spot a more appropriate end-silencer on that site for me that would be great. Getting a bit paranoid looking over at the GC blog and predictions of engine doom for too much back pressure etc if i get it wrong ! Cheers!

Unless your existing manifold is badly corroded then I would stick with the existing one. Additional points to note is that the original manifold has removable plugs for accurately setting each cylinders CO level. Also the spacing for the manifold is quite tight. Fiat/Abarth got the original design spot on in that the manifold will just slip up past and between the engine bay bulkhead and the cross engine drive shaft.

Many moons ago I tried a bigger bore "Franc Rizutti" supplied manifold an hit all sorts of problems.

As for middle/back boxes I would go to a quality specialist stainless steel exhaust shop. For our Barchetta I used a "LongLife" supplier and fitter. We did away with the middle box and then were able to choose the size/flow/noise of the back box and the tail pipe end piece.

I think what you are after will be easily met by one of these specialist companies. They are not that expensive and come with lifetime warranty.

Extra point of advice. As you are not looking big performance increases etc. then you can/should ask for the receipt to state that this new exhaust system is effectively to OEM specifications. This will avoid issues with insurance companies some of whom are always just itching to bump ones premium.

Thanks for that! Yes my manifold is OK so will stick with it. Cheers :)
