I know Regata's are rare, but not even a page for itself! The poor things!

Anyway, just picked up a Verde comfort 70.

It's had a hard life as the exterior shows but apart from a worn seat bolster is all there inside.

Drives really well, 1299cc engine with 4 speed box 60k miles.

Recently had a timing belt, and a clutch.

Only problem I'm having is the clutch only engages whilst pedal buried in the carpet and bites within a fraction of lifting it. Any advice on solving this? A new cable? Adjustment?

I'll post up some pictures tomorrow as I'm knackered after a 12 hour day to collect it!

Hi John ,:)

adjust it AND ENJOY..!!(y):D

my 2nd had an atrociously adjusted clutch..a twirl of the nut soon sorted it.., the new clutch ( work..) is the big clue there.., ;)

If adjustment not successful it is possible it has not been assembled correctly. A common mistake is to fit the clutch plate the wrong way.

the one I mentioned was a 1985 1500 weekend,
I'd seen it at a local car sales place.. apart from a rusty tailgate:rolleyes: it was very tidy, and typical FIAT of the time = dirt cheap.. but it was already sold.

2 months later - still on the lookout for an estate - I went to see a car listed in
local paper.. as I pulled up behind it I realised it was the same car..(y)

for £200 LESS - turns out the guy has written off a VW estate and bough this short-term while the insurance paid out,
he'd had it "serviced" at 2 x local garages in the 6 weeks he'd owned it , but couldn't get used to the clutch action - so was back up for sale..
on the test drive I kept stalling it.. , as the clutch action was POOR:bang:

bear in mind I was driving a 1.3 saloon daily then:rolleyes: so there was OBVIOUSLY something wrong here:shakehead:

SERVICED TWICE - and STILL virtually undriveable - EXPERTS eh..:tosser:

anyway deal was done,(y)
drove home , adjusted clutch cable and went on a 400 mile road trip:cool:

good car that..!!:worship:

Just back from holiday so could not respond earlier.

Used to have a Regata 70 (Still have the 130TC :) )

From the Fiat Regata Workshop Manual.

Adjusting Clutch Pedal Position
----------------------------------
This is carried out by regulating then nut and lock nut on the flexible cable until the clutch pedal is 15mm lower than the brake pedal.

there was THIS at the MITCAR show..,

I still wanna know where this one went, that was in a well known Neasden car dealer for years, till about 18 months ago..

Somebody wrote to Practical Classics to say that they were a Fiat collector, and after seeing the feature on that BL dealership, they had bought that car to join the rest of their Fiats, so hopefully it's gone to a good home! :)
