Hi am making my first post on the forum but spent many hours on here before and recognize many people from various forums, but just to say that I've purchased a 1983 105tc. Totally over the moon as been let down on a couple of 130' s but share the same passion for all things Strada and I've got one to get my teeth into. Any advice greatly appreciated and if anyone knows the car great.
Thanks

Welcome. Hope your new acquisition brings many enjoyable hours of driving and even tinkering :)

Regarding being let down by a couple of 130s this is not uncommon. There are few good condition 130s out there. Most have been abused, neglected or bodged. The 105TC is/was a rarer car, some think prettier, and those that survive are now only the really well kept and loved ones.

Thanks for the welcome. Mines a long way front being mint but it will be as I intend to fully restore her back to her original form. It has rusted in the usual places but is a totally complete car having being stood for the past 25 years. I know what you mean when you say some are to far gone but I always say anythings salvageable but in my case it was sellers agreeing to sell and then back dooring me either for better offers or who knows. But I now have a 105 which also has a great appeal but still continuing to hunt for a 130 also.

Hi, and welcome,

I didn't realise the 105 was/IS the rare one..,
my neighbour had a 105 NEW ,

never had a strada myself..2 Regata..!!

was this a "Bedroom poster" job - or did you have similar back in the day..??,

Lots of people have owned their "classics" for years, and can't quite let go.. hence the messing around you will have found..,
disappointing.. but human nature.

Charlie

Hi Charlie and thanks. I totally understand what you mean re not letting go as I store my cars and sometimes don't go there from one month to another "human nature " :) people call it stupid, sacrilege or hoarding but they just don't understand but the fact that you know you have them tucked neatly away always brings a smile to my face apart from my first owned 130tc D680 KFK which to this day breaks my heart as it was a true minter and my first Abarth.(Would've still had now) Sadly it was stolen and never to be heard of again  so for now that empty part of me has sort of been filled with the 105 but she needs a lot of attention !
Never driven the Regata but same principle I think but if you get the chance to drive an Abarth then do as they're a pure driving pleasure

Hi richglobe. Welcome. Is the 105TC you bought the one which was taken down from ebay auction recently?

If you're going to restore it, this item is for you- seems a very good price to me considering the 68euro for replica sets charged on the continent (ps the sale is nothing to do with me,I have a 130TC):

PS I also posted this up on the panels thread which you last posted to,so you don't miss it)

Hi Doblovert, thanks for the heads up a defo must, already had them on watch list which to be fair I should just buy it now considering the price being so fair. Being scouring the net like a kid with a new toy searching for parts as I want her like new. A huge mountain to climb but enjoyable all the same.
Thanks and if you see anything else of interest then please let me know.

I'd STRONGLY advise you to buy ebay item 261383003284, the Digiplex MED406A unit for your car

The guy had it up previously for sale but took it down from auction before the end .

Each model has an individual unit- the 130TC is the MED408A,and ALL are (as the ad says) rare and difficult to replace- and of course, whilst you're searching your car is laid up if your unit fails.

The MK1 105TC does not use the digiplex system . It use a system the same as the 131 sport (magnet marelli ) . Only the 105TC mk2 and the abarth use the digiplex in the strada range . The 105TC MK2 use a 406a module .

Hi, thanks for the heads up, not sure if I'll need it but good to replace all the same at that cost. Not posted it yet but purchased a 1985 B Reg 130tc but won't collect until end of Feb :):):). This one's not a restoration job ( I don't think) just a parker upper for now or so I say until she arrives then she'll be the No.1 smoker !!!!. Was enquiring re new panels for the 105 and up to now I've found both front wings, both front doors and two rear quater panels. They are old stock genuine panels and cost approx £1000. Fair price ??? Let me know what anyone thinks as got to ship to Uk also at additional costs or may even plan a road trip !!!

Hi, Looks like a big but worthwhile project! Have you tried Ricambio, they are showing a door and ns rear quarter? Cheers Paul.
