Hi,
in case you are still struggling,
ask in the Punto Mk1 , and maybe Palio sections , as we didn't get a diesel Strada in the UK,

Here you go. To get TDC more accurately check to see if you have a small inspection window on the top of the gearbox bell house. Window is about 5cm long and 2cm high and probably has a rubber plug/cap inserted. Pull this off. The bell house should then be marked with 0, 5 and 10 degree markings or notches.

Hi,

You have three gears with markings on them

i)The gear on the overhead cam . The mark must be at 12 there is a slot on the back plastic cover that this mark on the gear must line up with.
ii) The Injector pump gear has two marks on it. The first mark rotating in a clock wise direction must line up with the arrow behind the gear the mark is at 12 o clock.
the second mark must be at 10 to twelve.
iii) the crank gear also has a mark to line up.

Make sure when you put the belt on the marks don't move.

Start of by lining up the crank on TDC as suggested in in the previost post.

One you lined every thing up turn the engine over by hand and ensure nothing sticks.

Good luck. Next time make marks.
