Hi,

Anyone any suggestions on how to check the oil level in the ZF gearbox for the strada abarth 130tc?

Can't seem to find it in either the haynes manual or the Fiat workshop manual.

I'm kind of guessing I fill it up until it comes out of the filler plug?

Thanks in advance

ritmos lol a long rusted car of years ago,i remember a 12mm alley on front of box at about half shaft height ,yes fill.(y)

As already mentioned.

Front side of box about half way up is a plug.

Place car on level ground. Gently remove plug. Should dribble oil if correctly filled. If it does not then put your little fiinger in the hole and downwards. Can you feel the oil level? If not then topup required.

When filling/topping up I usually just jack the front of the car a little to get the car very slightly nose up. Then fill till oil is level with plug hole.

Strada 130TC boxes are very fussy about oil. Ideally you should use Olio Fiat ZC90 or similar. Do no use and EP / Hypoid oil.

Thanks guys a really great help. I'll take the tip on oil and will probably change the oil fairly soon.

I originally wanted to check the oil as I seemed to be getting a small oil leak from around the selector shaft.

Oil level seems to be Ok so it's definately a very small leak. Anyone had any success curing these kind of leaks on the Strada Abarth ZF gearbox?

Bit bemused, the oil level is fine, there's a rubber seal that goes round the gearbox that also looks fine too.
