Re: Ritmo Abarth Convertible Renovation

:ROFLMAO:

maybe cos the FIAT 131 abarth has a sporting heritage?

btw you can buy a 131 abarth for £15 k about twice what a very good 131 sport or vx would cost.

so are you saying that a dodgy modified 28 year old fiat ritmo is more of an abarth than my brand new abarth bought from the only abarth dealer in the country, that has no fiat badges whatsoever is registered as an abarth, that you cant buy from a fiat dealer,a fiat dealer cannot do any warranty work?

maybe if its a subject you know nothing off you should keep quiet.

i do consider this the end of this conversation.

My Ritmo is not "dodgy" :p

I wouldn't mind having your Abarth Grand Punto at all, but we do not as yet have Fiats or Abarths here in the US. I will buy an Abarth 500 Essesse as soon as they arrive here, but it probably won't be until 2011 or 2012 :(

Re: Ritmo Abarth Convertible Renovation

about the abarth argument im pretty sure that abarth didnt make a car under their own name untill the grande punto in 2007 all before this are fiat abarths and fiat do not own abarth anymore but work closely with them still from what the dealers told me when I bought my AGP (not a FGPA)

And on the V5 it says:
make:Abarth
Model: Grande punto Tjet 155

I wouldn't believe what the dealer told you, Abarth are still very much owned by Fiat S.p.A and Abarth UK is a trading name of Fiat Group Automobiles UK Ltd. http://www.fiat.co.uk/500abarth/ Abarth were an independant company until Fiat bought them in 1971. Shall we start this one again on second thoughts
i do consider this the end of this conversation.

So I guess it must be time for you Abarth guys to leave the Fiat forum and join the Abarth Forum.

we are already on there, they can't believe the rubbish on this thread aswell.

btw i have other cars that are fiats ,so guess i will still be hanging around here.

when abarth meant something there last car was the integrale, all these new badged abarths are just mass produced fiats with a few upgrades,

I agree with you there, even though I have a GPA. It is a good car and I enjoy driving it, but if I'm honest it doesn't feel as special as the Strada Abarths that I had in the 90's.

I'm also on the Abarth Forum and not everyone on their believes in the bull***t about Abarth being superior to Fiats, or being a totally seperate company to Fiat. Lets be honest, at the moment they are no different to Renault / Renaultsport, BMW / M series BMW, etc, etc.

Oh what this thread http://www.abarthforum.co.uk/general-abarth/not-very-bright-fiat-owners/ appears reading through that not everyone agrees with you. Just thought I'd post your opening gambit from the Abarth Forums and you've even said it's a seperate brand yourself :)

Abarth G.P said:
"does it surprise you that many so called italian car fans know nothing about modern abarths being a seperate brand,i don't normally rant ,but stupid people annoy me.

20v turbo is right folks.

Abarth is not a model (like M at BMW, RS at Reanult etc...)...it's a brand since 2008. Period. Fiat owns Ferrari as well. Does that make a 430 Scuderia Fiat? Corsa shares the same platform as Fiat Grande Punto. Does that make it Italian? There isn't a sign of a sigle FIAT logo on the car, nor is it in the brochures I got it with. It's an Abarth, not Fiat.

No one never claimed that Abarth produce everything themselves. In fact, there are numerous factories in the world (and counting) that share the same parts but still badge their cars differently. Keep that in mind.

Someone mentioned Lancia - please - Lancia in that era, had little to nothing to do with Abarth. It's an amazing car, without a doubt, but we're talking about something else here.

As for Ritmo (to stay on topic) - In the 80s Abarth name was mainly used to mark performance Fiats. Later, the Abarth badge was only used to mark a "level" of the model (Stilo, Punto MkII). They were still Fiats though.

Abarth today is in fact a brand. The cars they produce at the moment are Abarth Grande Punto and Abarth 500. End of story.

Oh, and as for the difference between the regular Fiat GP (say the top, petrol T-jet) and Abarth GP. Well, let me tell you, I've driven both. Sure, they're basicly the same car. Abarth "only" has different seats, steering wheel, suspension, brakes, wheels, bumpers, tail lights, front lights, exhaust, ECU, transmission, turbo charger...but thats exactly what makes it a different car to drive. I'm not talking about a huge hole here, but theres a significant difference, trust me. It's not only how the car drives (eventhough, it's huge difference here as well)...it's how it looks, feels.

Good god.

Where does one start... abarth punto owners trying to kid themselves that their new pride and joy isn't a fiat. Well guys it is a fiat.... just branded an Abarth. Keep telling your mates it isn't a fiat and perhaps they will believe you. Abarth is nothing but a marketing ploy by fiat to sell more cars... and what a bloody great thing. About time fiat gave Abarth hot cars again.

Gofra... where does one start...your arguement is flawed. What car do you think your precious Abarth is really? Hint: Not a ferrari 430. A punto perhaps? Who make puntos? Fiat...wow.

Lancia and Abarth...get your facts right before you pass comment perhaps. The Abarth factory (as opposed to a fiat factory producing fiats carrying abarth badges) was the racing arm of fiat and prepared all the legendary Lancia rally cars. So one could say there is a small link there.

The worse thing bout this spat is the attitude of a small number of punto owners who have no friggin idea of fiat and abarth history besides what they read on wikipedia.

As for the martini topless ritmo. I say fake.

A pretty good history on the pre and post Fiat ownership of Abarth is here, right up until the integrale Evo (Abarth model No. SE050).

http://www.sportingfiatsclub.com/models/124/CarloAbarth.asp

As far as the Abarth Martini Racing Ritmo convertible 100S is concerned, it does look a bit dubious to me and I have never heard of it before. I have been into Stradas for years and have owned 3 130TC's in the past. I've never heard of, or read about this Martini car before, but do remember seeing a white 100S convertible in France before that looked like the photos on these posts. I have to say it does look like someone has just modded a 100S to me. Could this of been for publicity for Martini Racing in the mid 80's, or just someone modding one in the back of his garage?

:)

You missed the whole point mate. And I rest my case...

the original abarth of old made world champion winning rally cars, which no punto or 500 will ever be, just a marketing ploy, slap a scorpion on it and it will sell, oh i own a grale!! Ant!
