Re: Ritmo Abarth Convertible Renovation

I have to respectfull disagree. Even the serial number is odd; not 138AS000*xxxxxxx or 138AS001*xxxxxxxx or 138ASA002*xxxxxxxx but ZZB138ASO*07017502*

so are you trying to say abarth made this car?

they made zero cars between 1971 and 2007.

20vturbo would you please stop banging on about Abarth not making any cars between 1971 and 2007. Abarth is still owned by Fiat and has been since 1971 so if you really want to imagine the 131 Abarth and the 125TC and 130TC don't exist then you really ought to forget the latest Abarth cars since 2007.

When I bought the car, I didn't know if it was a FIAT with Abarth badges or a real Abarth. I was told by Martini Racing that it is an Abarth Martini Racing Ritmo 100S convertible, and I have no reason to doubt them.

Like the early 750 double bubbles and many other Abarths, I would personally call it a Fiat-Abarth...

IMO, there are VERY FEW "real" Abarths. The vast majority are FIAT based. Only a handfull of Abarths have no FIAT they are based upon...all racing cars...

According to your own definition, your car would be a Fiat-Abarth and not an Abarth...in fact 98% of Abarths are actually Fiat-Abarths.

Abarth themselves built very few chassis and motors; virtually all of the chassis and motors Abarth used are Fiat derivatives..

no i think you will find it is an abarth.

as in Abarth Grande Punto

not like

Fiat 131 Abarth.

see what i did there?

The topic starter decieded to claim my Cabrio was NOT an abarth.. Which I haven't claimed it to be.
HOWEVER.. I did say the base of my car, engine, gearbox, suspention ALL of it and more are ALL taken from a 3 door hatch called the Abarth 130TC.
Making it a version of the Abarth with a 2 litre Twin Cam, Double Solex or Weber 40s version as the Ritmo/Strada 130TC all had.

Some info:

Abarth diversified in producing various tuning kits for road vehicles, mainly for Fiat, Abarth also produced high-performance exhaust pipes.

Abarth was sold to Fiat on July 31 1971 and the racing team sold to Enso Osella and Abarth became the racing department of Fiat.

Some models built by Fiat or its subsidiaries Lancia and Autobianchi were co-branded Abarth, the most famous being the Autobianchi A112 Abarth.

Abarth also prepared Fiat Group's rally cars like Fiat 124 Abarth and 131 Abarth.

In the 80s Abarth name was mainly used to mark performance Fiats like Fiat Ritmo Abarth 130 TC.

The name was almost forgotten in 1990s and in 2000s it was used like a trim/model level on FIAT cars, like the FIAT Stilo Abarth.

In 2007 Fiat Automobile relaunched the brand with the Grande Punto Abarth and the Grande Punto Abarth S2000. The brand is to be seen as a separate division to the main Fiat brand in a similar way that the Renault Sport brand is to the mainstream Renault.

So basically.. Abarth DID not make any cars at all.. Abarth only tuned them like AMG does Merceders or Alpina does BMW a.s.o ;)

abarth and the other makers you quoted are classed as seperate manufacturers, but your copy and paste from wikipedia did not show you that.

no such car as an abarth 130

there was a car called a fiat ritmo/strada abarth 130 tc however.

I'm not sure the point of your arguement to be honest. It's a pretty telling point from your sticker that the Abarth is mentioned and comes after the Grande Punto, surely you'd expect the manufacturer to come before the Grande Punto? The sticker just happens to look exactly the same as the one that is stuck on my Bravo, apart from the obvious difference being mine say Bravo instead of Grande Punto Abarth with no mention of Fiat so clearly the stickers are being knocked out by Fiat and really what it's saying is that it a Fiat Grande Punto Abarth ;)

End of the day you are entitled to believe whatever you really want but the simple fact is Abarth as they are still a division of Fiat that take the majority of a Fiat Punto (or 500), slap on a bodykit, chuck on some different wheels, seats, some Brembo brakes etc in the same way that they've always done. In fact the level of upgrades pretty much mirrors the upgrades and modifications made to the last Abarth cars that being the 130TC, it just happened that Fiat at the time positioned Abarth slightly differently in the market place.

Not sure why a 131 Abarth fetches about £30k, about 10x any other 131 is worth when it's clearly just a Fiat according to you?

Anyway perhaps the topic could return to the original discussion which was the mysterious Martini Rimto Abarth. My personal opinion is that this particular car is an owner conversion of a standard Ritmo Cab.

who is merceders?

amg is not classed as a manufacturer.

but brabus, alpina and abarth are,it surely cannot be that hard to take in?

Merceders?? well german car ;) .. sorry if I lost the Benz in the end ;)

however.. AMG aswell as Alpina and Abarth are using the original manufactured cars from each companies then making high performance cars.

But to call these cars manufacturer is to go abit far, don't you think?
Tell me one model that Alpina or Abarth have made from scratch? ;)

Or should we establish NOT factory buildt cars??

And again.. the Strada/Ritmo was called Fiat Abarth Ritmo/Strada 130TC. So sorry if I didn't get that right.. but as this is a Fiat Forum all here should know??

Actually, Abarth DID make some full-fledged, out and out race cars that are NOT Fiat derivitives...but yes, 98% of Abarths ARE Fiat based..

and?

alpina are based on bmw,its still an alpina

brabus are based on mercedes benz ,its still a brabus

abarth are based on fiat, but still an abarth.

what do you not get?

or are you not very bright?

and i think you will find you are wrong, try going into a fiat dealer and buying one.

i take it you don't know too much about these things.

btw this is getting kinda boring now.

:ROFLMAO:

maybe cos the FIAT 131 abarth has a sporting heritage?

btw you can buy a 131 abarth for £15 k about twice what a very good 131 sport or vx would cost.

so are you saying that a dodgy modified 28 year old fiat ritmo is more of an abarth than my brand new abarth bought from the only abarth dealer in the country, that has no fiat badges whatsoever is registered as an abarth, that you cant buy from a fiat dealer,a fiat dealer cannot do any warranty work?

maybe if its a subject you know nothing off you should keep quiet.

i do consider this the end of this conversation.

about the abarth argument im pretty sure that abarth didnt make a car under their own name untill the grande punto in 2007 all before this are fiat abarths and fiat do not own abarth anymore but work closely with them still from what the dealers told me when I bought my AGP (not a FGPA)

And on the V5 it says:
make:Abarth
Model: Grande punto Tjet 155
