It's for the normal running tail lights, the bulb is a BAU15D which seems really hard to find. Dual filament with offset pins (horizontaly). I guess dual filament means it lights up brighter when the brake lights are on? Anyone found a bright BAU15D, or a good LED version?

It would disturb the people behind you but if you still want to do it, just turn the fog lights on to make them brighter... Swapping them with LED's will cause a dashboard warning because LED's draw less current. You'll need wire resistors to cancel that...

I've had plenty of trouble with LED replacements so far so I'm looking for something that will work. But so far even just finding a stock replacement has been impossible. seems the socket is also used for the indicator bulb so plenty of yellow ones but no clear ones like is needed.
