Facelift Qubo

I've done over 70,000 miles in my 2012 Qubo now and am looking for a new(er) one but they are as rare as hen's teeth in the version I'd buy!

I'm after a 2017 (or pre April '18) 1.3 Dualogic Lounge (the new name for MyLife)

Why the scarcity? I was told today, having gone to a proper dealer that they're even discontinuing the Dualogic on new Qubos - though why I don't know, the economy is better than the manual box on the 1.3 and I thought the Govt (who control us to the nth degree) wanted us to be economical in our driving. Even the 500X is only available in petrol versions now.

Any ideas or internal knowledge on where they're all hiding?

Hi, hope you find one, you are a regular here! They have never been promoted, have they, though you see a lot of the Peugeot and occasionally Fiat vans with livery. Especially Eurocar parts. There must be specialists moving them on? Do you want new? Finally why not keep the old one for a while, you will have looked after it.

Re: Facelift Qubo

I suspect Dualogic is being discontinued because it's so prone to issues, according to the massive threadnaught on the subject!
Likely any new Fiats will have the auto-box from the 500X range.

Re: Facelift Qubo

I think having done 50,000 miles in this one qualifies it as being time to change!

New ones aren't shouted about though except on the Fiat website - perhaps a whisper.. Europarts use Peugeots and despite their ads saying "all parts for all cars", the Fiat range is quite limited! I've had to buy mudflaps for the Qubo from a Peugeot dealer as there's nothing listed for the Qubo (again).

I would like nearly new, before April 2018 preferably to miss the new VED bands as I enjoy paying £20. New costs too much in depreciation as I (re-) discovered when I bought the Fiorino. As I had a choice of filling in the spec for that, would you believe I was told I'd asked for 'too many accessories' and could I drop something off the list...good grief
One thing I considered vital is cruise control, it's now standard on the Trekking but an option on the Lounge and I doubt anyone will request it.

It would be good if the new auto box for the Qubo (if they do it instead of Dualogic which is clunky as a compromise to be fair) is the 500X box, that's from a Range Rover and in my 500X that I had for almost a year it was very nice except it didn't change up fast enough for me (unlike the perfect RAV4 g/box which was really good - I know that up to 2004 but not beyond) so I often found that I was changing gear for it

I still feel start/stop is both stupid and dangerous. I ALWAYS turn it off as the first thing I do after starting the engine.

Keep looking on the web for that elusive car....(with the plastic floor)

Re: Facelift Qubo

I have found it, the only one s/h 2017 in my chosen spec!

Question - has anyone on the forum got a facelift Qubo? Which model?

The one I've bought (hope to collect in a week) doesn't have the sat-nav option though I still have my stand alone Blue&Me unit. The new model is bereft of the 68R socket for the unit holder (bad move) so perhaps I should look at changing the HU. I saw an ad for the Daiichi unit. Any thoughts on good/bad?

What other possible model is a good upgrade to get features inc. sat-nav, preferably TomTom as I really appreciate GoLive for instant traffic updates as they're a real bonus. I don't want to be using my phone for this purpose.

Any info or f/b on your findings, niggles or praise for the updated Qubo much appreciated...

Re: Facelift Qubo

Collected the new wheels today. Very nice. So much tighter than the old one (12,300 miles on the clock vs 71,500 so I guess, well...)

There is no more 'Blue & Me' (no box under the driver's seat) so this must be the Uconnect system and interesting to see that after my asking in the last message (which I also replied to ) the sound system in the car is a Daiichi.

Annoyingly the radio takes about 20 secs to come alive and when turning the car off and you have to go through the rigmarole of it up-booting again if you're not getting out straightaway (like I don't always..) Same as in the 500X from memory. I just wonder if the wiring is in assuming I could get a satnav unit to go in there. It's 2-DIN so I will pull it out in the morning to have a look behind. If I could get a Trekking version satnav to fit then I would see if it's available as TomTom has the Go Live add on for instant and current traffic updates that have saved me many hours in the past. Saleman seemed to suggest that there'll be no Trekking very soon if not gone already. Lots of models have been scrapped it seems. No diesel Panda 4x4s any more etc. No 500X 4x4 either..

I thought that DRLs were a new car thing and fitted as standard to all cars post a date (2016?) and not an option. This car was new on 1/2/17, quite a bit after that date and there's no DRL in sight. The wife's Captur is 1 month older than this Qubo and has them. Lorries have them. Vans have them. Fiat - well even carpets in this car are an after market add on - if you add them yourself!

So far, after a 150 mile drive, it's really nice. I'll post a pic - sunglasses warning though, it's metallic "Hillbilly Azure" (who thinks of these names?) so be aware, not afraid...

Enjoy..............strange on one thing though, my 'blue & me' is under the passenger seat, empty under drivers.............perhaps they had a funny turn when installing it.....haha.

Re: Facelift Qubo

I had Michelin X-Climates fitted last (but one) weekend so as to be ready for anything...

The Facelift Q now has TPMS, something else to go wrong. Why do manufacturers think we need all these gadgets? It's not even as if it tells me which wheel. Any road up, I'd been driving about 200 miles post tyre swap and bing - on comes the light. I scroll through the menu and unlike the 500X, it's not a chuffin' option in the user menu so I'll have to go to the dealer to get it removed. Pressures checked today and all even so it's a spurious error. If it's possible I'll see if my man can delete it from the list of checks. PITA

I'm trawling the internet to try and obtain a 68R satnav cradle socket becuase Fiat have done away with Blue & Me and replaced it with something called BT (I think). The HU is a Daiichi double-DIN unit and is SO hopeless. Set up TA, no Traffic Announcements. Programmed the buttons and put on TF and if the station drifts it just goes off. Put on EON and every 20 seconds if another station is in the area the radio goes onto that (without changing the display) then reverts back to where you were. The touch screen is a stab screen as tapping is just not enough. Horrible horrible piece of junk.
Changing channels using the steering wheel buttons sets it scrolling through frequencies to the next up or down in your list, no going straight to it. Awful. Hey - where did the CD player go - and why??

Can't imagine how bad the Trekking 'superior' model is with TT sat nav. I wrote to Daiichi to ask a couple of questions about TT and the possibility of the better unit having Go Live (vital to any journey) and helpfully, they wrote to Italy to ask them to reply to me. Go Live is not an option to add in though they did say a better (still) unit was in development that used data and your phone though I can't see that being better really.. Data costs money and a lot of daily journeys will chew it up. The one big bug bear is that a combination unit with radio and navigation has the annoyance that the satnav interrupts the radio with every instruction. The 500X navigator got turned off and shut down as the voice on that said 'Please' after EVERY phrase which was SO annoying.

Other than these small niggles I like the car. It's SO much quicker than the 75PS engine despite it being the same engine but now rated at 80PS. Bags of take off and torque.

Anyone with a 68R socket (735473022) I'd like to hear from, plus the cable for power too would be just great!

Re: Facelift Qubo

I have a 2017 Trekking and think its a backward step with the touchscreen radio in some ways - no blue and me, unable to voice dial or make calls or browse mp3 albums from steering wheel - can do tracks and can dial last number received but have to go to touch screen to select albums or call lists. Doesnt read texts either - miss that foxy lady speaking!

The most annoying think I found is that the wheel carrier from my old 2014 Trekking doesnt fit the new one as the welded studs are different. It looks like a 4 hole set up for the main carrier and cannot get a part number from fiat as wasnt fitted option when new!

Wondered if you can photograph the underside of your car where the studs are to compare with mine at all?

Car great otherwise and love the torque on these engines!

Re: Facelift Qubo

I've not checked the old stand-offs on the new car yet but reading your post I'll have a look today. If the old ones don't fit the new car then I'll be offering them to #peterholden as he's looking for a set.. (Not sure who you wanted an underside photo from, me or Peter H)

Why do they have to change things if they work?
Apart from the hopelessness of the radio (only fairly major in my car life!) I can't understand why it needs c15 seconds to boot up if I want to turn off the engine and sit in the car to do my banking or whatever (or anyway..) Also the warning about not cooking breakfast whilst driving or being distracted (or whatever it says) - it's not a satnav and the option to acknowledge having read it once and 'Do not show this message again' isn't there. Just a really poor unit. I've got good at memorising all the alternative frequencies to move stations to when they drop out as the AF doesn't and the TA also is broken.
I've tried reset twice, I had to disconnect the phone and reinstall that as I had no radio at all for a while and the display kept showing "Dialling" when it wasn't, no Bluetooth (interestingly just decided that the BT icon isn't British Telecom...) yet I could play tunes from my library on the phone though now I've got the phone back, it won't play any of my tunes! I wonder if I could get a new radio under warranty as it's clearly not fit for purpose and doesn't do what it should...

The fuel consumption is claimed to be far better than the pre-facelift model but it's actually worse. Maybe the 5 extra horses means more thirst? I like the power increase.

My sliding doors rattle on uneven roads. On the warranty steering hose replacement visit I asked them to check that and the guy said he'd done it (it was only the offside) and it was fine for a day but they both rattle now.

Smile Re: Facelift Qubo

Was interested in seeing the underside stud layout of your 17 plater as old carrier had a 3 stud fixing but stud layout on mine suggests 4 studs or even 6 as 2 extra studs - 1 each side of where main carrier fits. I think it is spiteful of fiat to change it and am sure it is because they want to sell them as extras and stop people fitting the old ones. I think the only way to fit the old one securely would be to grind off the 4 studs and then drill holes into the floor to match the old 3 hole flange type and fix with coach bolts.

what was that about steering hose? - is there an issue with them or something? I noticed my driveshafts were rusty looking by the way - dont know if yours is the same but old one didnt have rusty drivshafts!

I do like the car and it has a softer ride, the tyre monitoring light came on after I got the car but all you do is check the pressures and give a long press on the button on the dash and job done. been fine since and no wheel sensors to worry about as works of abs speed sensors!

No stop start on mine which affects economy but I never used it on old car anyway and am glad not to have it actually. 55mpg on a run - similar to my old one so cant complain about that!

Re: Facelift Qubo

Hi #trekkingnut and #peterholden ,

I went under the Qubo yesterday and photographed the stud layout with the previously ok wheel stand-offs. Enclosed are reasonable attempts showing the 2 smaller brackets do fit (relying on gravity to hold them temporarily in the pic, no nuts affixed) but the larger one (which is the RH bracket in the photo,) is to fit the stepped mounting where one stud is on the rear ledge and the inner stud is 'up' on the plane of the other bracket mounts. The larger studs in the middle (group of 3) is for the wheel lowering/raising unit that comes with the cable winder etc.

First picture, the bumper is at the bottom of the pic, 2nd pic it's on the LH side.

As I haven't got a spare (other than the Fiorino steels with winter tyres on, poss different size?) and I haven't got the winder unit either I can't stretch the larger bracket to the new dimension to see if the wheel still fits ok.
I might have the two smaller brackets the wrong way round but the spacing is still ok.

The steering hose was rubbing on a body part and had chafed through, near the front cross member I think they said. Might be worth checking yours to see if the proximity of it to a welded flange or other part mount or something is worth protecting? I lost a lot of fluid and the repair was sheduled for 1.5 hours and took 2.5 as they had to remove the front bumper to facilitate the replacement in the end. I asked them to steam clean the drive shaft and suspension area on the o/s as everything under there was covered in ATF!

Please can you say which button you long pressed to clear the TPM warning? "Menu" when it tells you to check tyre pressures?
Car was clear when I bought it but the week after, I had Michelin Cross-Climates fitted all round and 200 yds after setting off on the Monday morning the light came on and there's no clearing button option on the stalk like on the 500X.

I'm surprised you have no Start/Stop button, thought it would be compulsory? Top right of the hazard light switch cluster. It stays off now once pressed until you press it again (or disconnect the battery I imagine.)
I'm wondering why I have no DRLs on the car - I thought they were compulsory on all cars after about 2016.

before you fit them could you photograph them with a ruler along side. They look as though they should be possible to copy if you end up using yours.
Thanks

Re: Facelift Qubo

Hi, thanks for the photos - I can tell your that your layout IS the old type and the standard winder will fit. The V brackets are fine on mine and youalways have to either stretch or compress them slightly to match the holes. I have 4 studs in a rectangular shape where your 3 stud triangle is and there are studs on mine where there are holes in yours each side. The design changed in Jan 2017 apparently and my car was registered in March 2017 (£30 road tax) so I think maybe your car was made BEFORE Jan 17 if my info correct?

Will check my steering hose - thanks for info on that. I had a S/S button like yours on my 14 plater but the new one doesnt have it and there is a tyre symbol button on bottom row next to rear fog light button. I gave that a long press and it reset. Its shown on page 51 of my manual but the manual wrongly describes reset procedure as part of main menu and it isnt!
