Hi All

Anyone replaced said item on a the 1.3 engine?

I suspect mine is on the way out - at least 4 turns of the key to start in the (cold) am, fine from then on. Gather from earlier reading this is the/a telltale?

Is it 'plug n play' fit or will it need re-timing with 'dealer only' tools as/ old-skool mechanical pumps .. spent hours doing same on Perkins Prima back in the day.

Any/all thoughts gratefully received

not sure if you still need to know but the fuel pumps are bolted to the non timing end of the head and are operated by the cam, held on with 3 bolts just a slot drive from the camshaft

I didnt see the original post from RoyAB

But I am a bit confused.

My suspicion is that we are actually talking about the HIGH PRESSURE pump in a COMMON RAIL diesel engine.

I would find out what rail pressures cranking achieved .. before throwing several hundred pounds at the engine

Thanks belly93 & varesecrazy.

Indeed the HP pump on common rail.

Multiescan confirms that pump is at desired pressure when engine running..but not sure if that measures at startup without connecting pressure gauge?

Yes that is the high pressure pump i shall get a picture when im on my lunch break

Had a quick look and found a pic off the web,
The part in the red circle with the red scribble on is the hp fuel pump for the common rail system
