Good news then.............happen those of us who have had these switches changed have been warning message free since............just a shame folk can spend mega money trying to fix what is really a very simple problem.......

QubeO... how on earth did you get the braje light switch out? I've been attempting it all day and given up. There's no videos online for the type of brake light switch qubo's have? Did you just break the old one getting it out or do you have a miracle solution? TIA. Jenni

Haha, Was a bit of a swine...........no didn't break it, though that may have been down to luck. Had the wife hold down the brake pedal to take the pressure off the switch ,then managed to push the little lugs in and wriggle it out. The new one just clipped into place easy..............good luck.

Follow up: it's been almost 4.5 months since my last visit to the mechanic and i haven't seen the issue again. Any one who faces the "Check Transmission" message do get the brake switch checked.

I had the same problem on my fiat Bravo 2010 MultiJet Diesel Dualogic. The issue was the breakswitch. I simply took it out stripped the switch down (carefully popped it open using a thin pry tool) and then I could extend the length of the switch button itself (there was a small circlip that when popped out allows you to extend the length of how far the button sticks out of the switch, and then you pop the circlip back in once the length is right for you). I found on mine the problem was that the button was not sticking out far enough for the break pedal to fully depress it when nothing is pressing on the break pedal. This resulted in the car thinking that the break was still being pressed while your foot was off the break. This in turn confused the car so it wouldn't auto shift up gear. Once I extended the length of the button by one ring on the circlip and put it all back together and reattached the switch everything worked fine. Agreed buying a new one might be easier but if you are feeling brave you could try to fix it yourself as the switch on mine was just a plastic casing with sprung steel and springs inside, no electronics so worth a go 😁

Well done you, nice one................I was worried about breaking the switch while removing it, so purchased a new one all ready. Happen if I had tried to get it apart 'sod' would have had it crack or split, so for a few quid it suited me. Was a awkward enough job getting the old one out and the new one in.................
Well done though, if it goes again I may tempt fate..........

It amazes me how many folk on different sections of this forum spend mega pounds and many hours trying to sort problems with their systems which could quite often be simply this switch............still such is life.

Update: one year since i got the break switch changed. no problem so far.

since it's pretty cold in Munich nowadays i do get the Check Transmission message on every cold start. the message goes away after about 30 seconds. Any one else facing similar issues?
