I've just had my fiat qubo's MOT and it passed ok but they said the clutch bearing was making a noise which I can hear now when I use it. I asked at a Fiat garage the other day how much it would cost to have it fixed and they said I'd need a new clutch! I also asked how much a service & new clutch would cost and got £1,695.09 quote!! So I don't think I'm going to use a Fiat garage!!
My question is, do I have to have a new clutch?

You don't have to have a new clutch fitted, but the cost if accessing the area to to replace the bearing is much more than the cost of a clutch. If the beaing is making a noise it is also likely to have damaged the cover plate. A clutch set of friction plate, cover plate and bearing is around £100-150 so you may as well do the lot while they are in there.

Hi bud I have the same problem on my Punto Grande 1.9jtd I have replace the clutch kit and release bearing as well as my Flywheel. The gearbox is back in but theres still a noise when the clutch is not in. But its gone when you apply the clutch. Anyone knows what could this be.

Gearbox input bearing most likely, if the release bearing has been replaced recently

So I had my gearbox sent away for the bearings to be tested. Test came back with no problems found. I got someone in to get the Flywheel checked to find that the thrust bearing are gone. Is this the noise that ive been getting that makes the release bearing sound?

Hi,
I think there is some confusion over these bearings,

The clutch release bearing is in the flywheel, and is sometimes called the thrust bearing..... So if your thrust bearing is gone then it's one and the same bearing and would need replacing.

Incorrect.

The release/thrust bearing is the same thing, however, it sits on the input shaft against the clutch pressure plate. It is not inside nor part of the flywheel.
