I had a new alternator a couple of months ago and now my fan keeps cutting in and it's quite noisy. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what should I do about it:confused:

1. is your engine overheating?

2. is this on motorway or in city traffic?

3. are you referring to the fan that cools the engine?

The engine doesn't over heat the gauge stays the same and it happens at odd times even when it's cool weather on short trips after sometimes only 10 minutes driving. And it's very loud but when I turn it off and start another journey it doesn't do it for a couple of weeks somtimes

Sounds like it's doing a regen to me to mine does it from time to time

I've no idea what a regen it or a dpf??? It's a diesel 2011 qubo:confused:

Hi,

Easiest way to explain what a regeneration is and a dpf ( diesel particulate filter ) is to have a quick google.

There is also a lot of threads on the qubo part of the forum as well.

I do agree, it does sound like the car is regenerating ( cleaning the c**p out of the dpf )

to clean the trapped soot out of the exhaust filter your car basically pumps some fuel down the exhaust to BURN the soot away, the heat from this triggers the engine cooling fan.

TBH - just be glad it DOES work - as DPF's that do NOT regen cost a LOT of money:bang:

Thanks Charlie from Oxford for info. How often does this happen ? and does supermarket fuel cause it to happen more often does anyone know?(y)

Super market fuel won't really have that much affect tbh , more how the vehicle is used ie short journeys , during regeneration you will notice white smoke from the exhaust more if it's doing it around town also the fuel economy will drop due to the fact it's Injecting fuel with the exhaust valves open

One more question folks. On my dash I keep getting a sign saying MEMORY LOW, asked them at my local garage and they don't seem to know what to do about it, any ideas please??:D

Do you run any usb device on it ?
Could be that any existing users data is still held within it maybe try reset user data or do a software update on it see if that helps

Think I may have found it sounds like you have Eco drive turned on press the command button and say Eco drive the say Eco drive off
