Eurocarparts prices range from 9.54 to 15.90 (Bosch) so I would say you were slightly overcharged........😟

Re: Glow plugs on a qubo, glow plug showing fault on dash, gave reg to my mate who...

My "check glow plugs" warning came on yesterday with the flashing yellow light .
As Qubo is 5 years old now and covered 35k miles, I invested in a new set of Bosch OEM glow plugs from Eurocarparts - less than 40 with discount . These are for the Euro IV engine (no DPF) Euro V glow plugs are different.

Easy to change with a deep 8mm socket and the air filter housing removed.

When I tested them, only one was faulty so I'll keep the old ones as spares. The warning disappeared as soon as they were changed, so no need to clear any fault codes.

Happy days

Re: Glow plugs on a qubo, glow plug showing fault on dash, gave reg to my mate who...

is it an easy job to change these? my 60 reg Qubo is showing the 'change glow plugs' light. I was told by a garage that it's not an easy job, and if seized, could cost in the region of 1,800. Could be a female with no technical know-how getting ripped off?

Hi, and welcome to FF,

is it a 1.3 or a 1.9..??

they CAN get stuck.. but that's not guaranteed,

does it still start o.k.??

as the system is "self-testing" and the warning being lit could just be a poor connection somewhere.. that's not uncommon,

I agree 100% with Charlie, mine for quite a while kept coming up with the check glow plug warning, however this was in the summer, the car still started perfectly fine and so I ignored it. After a few weeks it became more irregular and the stopped displaying the fault. Now it's been pretty cold up here and no warning, and starting first time, every time.......oh er ...I've probably just jinxed it!

Re: Glow plugs on a qubo, glow plug showing fault on dash, gave reg to my mate who has

My 2009 qubo with currently 72,000 miles (I put 20,000 miles on it from when I bought it) has just started randomly saying check glow plugs when starting but it starts readily with no issue...

Are the glow plugs just used for starting? They aren't active once engine is running, right?

Correct, they warm the block to aid with cold starting.

YES - correct,

they are essentially like a metal foil clad lightbulb,

the metal foil on the outside glows cherry-red for a few seconds.. squirt diesel at it and it'll ignite easier

they are only HEATED whilst the glowplug symbol is illuminated.

does the light FLASH after starting..?
or do you just get a message..??

Re: Glow plugs on a qubo, glow plug showing fault on dash, gave reg to my mate who has

the glow plug light flashes after starting and the message appears to check glow plugs...

but it is randomly at starting not every time...

car is otherwise running fine...

starts immediately no problem there...
