Anyone else notice the gearbox kangarooing and getting confused when in and around gears one and two??? Is this normal??

Need to modify you driving and get the 'knack' :)

Will be dependant upon speed when slowing / moving off, say at roundabouts etc. I've found the best thing to do it read the road ahead to be able to drive at a speed which means its happy sitting in 2nd, or stop completely so it drops into 1st (y)

you should be able to anticipate the gear changes to all gears once you learn the computer's algorithm.

the shift to 2nd normally comes very quick (low rpms) and it is too quick for me especially in heavy traffic when you have drivers riding up your as# and you are starting off from a red light and everyones in a hurry to get home.

the computer reads the intensity of your accelerator (foot) velocity to gage its shifts. if your in heavy rushour traffic and you want to use dualogic mode (vs manual shifting) then you have to accelerate HARD off in 1st gear to get away from the cars behind you before the dualogic makes its (slow) shift sequence. in this manner, the cars behind you dont notice the "slow/searching" shifting manner of the computer. the computers not bad, it is just slow.

i personally use the auto shift system when the traffic is light and no ones around me.

i use the manual mode when im in 1) heavy traffic or 2) in hilly country

i am currently experimenting by using manual all the time...to compare to my dualogic avg mpg results. for example, when the car is cold and warming up, i disagree with DL's shifts, they put too much torgue on the engine when its cold. and, in traffic, i like to run 1st gear out in rpms a bit before 2nd gear, after, quickly go into the other gears.

hope this helps. the dualogic is a fabulous design...theres no way a manual clutch could attain a more efficient shift than the solenoids: if when you decide to shift you first let off the gas momentarily, shift w/duologic, then gas it again, well then the solenoid drops it into gear quickly and with far less fuss...and with alot less moving parts/replaceable parts.

fiats not the only Co to go this route...all of them have. my last VW 2.0 diesel had the same config except more complicated: they had 2 completely different clutches inside the tranny, one for manual shifting and one for auto shifting. the fiat uses one.

everyone who is a clutch elitist claims, i can get better performance and mpg's.

yeah right...the fiat is a 1.3 MJ...good luck! this is a putz car and always will be.

oops, forgot to mention your possible "kangaroo" error which im not sure what it is (the symtoms of) BUT, if the DLogic has a legit error there should be a code. you can read your own codes on bluetooth on your smart phone.

i use a ELM 327 bluetooth OBD 2 reader off of ebay for $20 coupled with the free "Torque" android app for free.

Torque also sells for $3-4 a plugin for their free app for Fiat...which opens more access to the Fiats computer
