I have been taking my cars to a local garage for MOT for some years now and when I bought a Quobo for my wife, I was told that the local garage could carry out the service and providing Fiat parts were used, this would meet the warrentee requirements. I brought the car in for service last week and was told that the ABS fault light was on ( should have noticed myself). They did not know how to fix and could not even find the dignaostic socket.
Now got the car back and sitting in the garage waiting for me to have a look when I recover from a very heavy cold. Before I start probing with a screwdriver, anyone have any advise and could it be serious, bearing my main dealer is 50 miles away.

A vauxhall garage will be able to sort it, thats where mine goes to, as it shares a lot with the corsa inc engine
The diagnostic port is behind the panel bottom right to the steering wheel, remove the two screws and it will hinge down from the top and lift off

Yes - a right pain to access the OBD port taking half the dashboard off. Why wasn't it put in an easier place lower down? My van was serviced last week (20,900 miles) and I still get a "Service xxx miles" at first turn on. The guy did a lot of clearing using his gizmo and thankfully the annoying "Change Engine Oil" reminder has gone. In the cable to the gizmo he had to plug in an edge connector smart card for the Fiat (he had dozens on a chain attached to cable for all cars!) to do the final clearings of codes. Trouble is, their gizmo reader is a year or so behind the current one so my request to alter things like the number of flashes of the flick turn indicator, the volume of the annoying "Inadmissible Action" warning when I try to change up gears when going too slowly (as deemed by the car) and the 'alarm armed' beep volume (wakes the neighbours dogs plus the dead..) couldn't be accessed or done.
He has to arrange a trial of a new device and have my van in as a potential test bed to see how a new reader fares.

I wish someone had found what changes can be done to the computer with a reader...(plea)

Hi. Luigi,
At last ,got well enough to go into the garage. You are quite right, the panel is by the steering wheel but I had not expected it to be the whole width of the bay. Thanks for that info.
Looking at the fuse box inside the engine compartment, anybody know how to remove the cover without moving the battery?. I sometimes think that car designers should be put into the workshop and made to dismantle and rebuild their design before it is released on the unsupecting public. It may be finger trouble on my part but I would not like to have to replace a fuse on the road in the middle of the night

Yes..........This has been brought up before and is a right pain to get off
It can be removed without taking out the battery,it you just need to be patient in it's removal, you sort of have to turn it anti clockwise and distort the cover to pull it out, but be prepared for cuts to your hands, i lost a pint of blood getting mine off!

Hi sandpiper have you checked your handbook to see if the alarm voice can be turned of from the dash board user controls or check with the techs at main dealer?
