Had a bad few days with my car !
It's a motability car & 2013 & 10 months old
7/3/14 new tyre needed as down to cloth after 5800 miles
8/3/14 take it back to do tracking due to tyre wear & got tracking printout ,
14/3/14 and still not being happy with the tracking they told me to take it to another kwik-fit ,and got a tracking print out ,
They told me to take it straight to fiat so I drove to fiat and told them & gave them a Copy of the 2 tracking print out & he said they needed to book it in ,so he did for the 26/3/14. (ALL THIS WAS INFRONT OF MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER )
Now the problem ,we are both ok apart from me in excruciating pain,
Was going to visit my mum & thought we would cut across country (other than go on the a14 a 140 )
After driving for a bit we decided the noise from the car was not ok so we turned around & headed home ,
On a sharp bend at about 20/25 mph with 2 hands on the steering it snatched it out of my hands & we headed for a I ditch & field ,we came to rest approx 100 ft from the road ,
WARNING TO FIAT QUBO OWNERS WATCH TYRE WEAR AND GET SUSPENSION CHECKED ( ITS FOR YOUR SAFETY )
WE ARE BOTH OK .i am very sore on shoulder /chest/stomach / back the wife is ok
I have put up some photos of the event but blacked out the number plate ( to protect fiat so far at least ) but can be posted later if needed
I have a complaint with motability so let's hope the sort it
Please help if you can ?.
Thanks andy,

Here you are Andy - I think I've written this out three times now - sometimes a search will find it though I had to use that this time since I couldn't remember where I'd done the posts :)

Snip...
By some miracle I've found the info I posted on how to attach pics to a posting. Read on...

If your pictures are on a phone or an SD card from a camera, you have to put the pics into the 'My Pictures' file on the computer (and know what they are called) then using a reply to your own message (or this one) using "Quote" so you get all the bells and whistles, click on the "Attachments" icon in the bar above, next to the smiley, 2 right of the letter 'A'

You then get a menu box with several empty boxes and 'Browse' after each one.
Click Browse and you get the option to go somewhere on your PC - select where your pics are located and tap on the first pic, select 'Open' (and OK if you need to).
Go back to the box and click Browse on the next box down etc. until you have loaded them all in.
Click 'Upload' and wait until you see your pics appear in 'Current Attachments'
Scroll to the bottom of the box and click 'Close This Window' (I don't know why you have to do this but keep going...)

Next, click again in the Compose box on 'Attachments' above your message and
you'll see the list of pics -click there - and this --> {ATTACH}118777{/ATTACH} will appear for all your pics (wherever your cursor is located in the text you're writing) but with square brackets (fancy ones put in here so that it shows what you will see) so click on the list and it puts them all in your message. You can then add a title next to each one and check it all in Preview Post so you're happy with the layout and spelling, capitals etc.

HTH

P.S. I think you need to have made min 5 posts before you're 'allowed' to post pics up..

These are horrific, total malfunction, inferior part? hairline fracture?
Will be interesting to see what fiat makes of this.
This is a major safety issue with a new car and fiat should take this very seriously.
Your very lucky. god forbid if you were not on a motorway.

it was the bottom wishbone in 3 places i think ?
i have one bit of the suspension in my posetion and its got metal fatigue (n)
that snatched the steering wheel out my 2 hands and we headed for the field ,
can't do more photos yet but will keep trying
also thanks for your kind words ,we are very lucky to be talking/email about it (y)

Hi, Looking at that picture of the piece of wishbone............the fracture line looks very clean, I just wonder if it was caused by the incident, as opposed to causing the incident. Maybe another component failed, and as a result the wishbone broke ???????? Just a thought. Look forward to hearing what Fiat (dealer) has to say. Cheers Qube O......

Thanks all for your kind words
Fiat said it was the road ,pictures of road show it is pothole free for miles ,
they are trying to blame me ! (How it gave way on a bend )
Motabilitys insurance are looking at parts failing and waiting for reports ,
Glyn hopkin got back to me after I posted photos on the internet ,and they say it's fiats fault ( after I left kwik-fit and I drove it to fiat and they booked it in for 2 weeks )
Someone has to take responsibility for not checking it quicker than 2weeks ,
I gave the print out from kwik-fit to glyn hopkin ipswich and they copied them in black and white so how can they tell where the red, yellow ,green zones on suspension if it's in black and white ,
I will keep you updated as soon as I can

I'm glad to see you got away with this relatively unscathed,

ALWAYS worth getting your local Trading Standards involved,;)

TBH the sheared component in your pictured hand . looks like an aluminium alloy.. so shouldn't be a "stressed component" of the steering / suspension.., ( another component may be faulty)
either way there is NO WAY this should have failed on a NEW / vehicle with sensible road mileage,

Charlie

UPDATE !!
Fiat should have the qubo as of yesterday ,if they could get the right lorry to lift it ,they sent out a flatbed and was told not to drag it as it would do more damage ,
So they was told to get a lorry with a crane ,
With a bit of luck fiat will give use some answers to the question of why it snapped on a 10 month old car

Suggest you film the recovery to show where they put the straps. I had a problem in the past when this was done and it distorted on of the sills and put a crease in a wheelarch. Depends on the experience of the recovery operator but most recoveries like this are for a write of that doesn't matter.

Fiat said it was kwik-fits fault !
kwik-fit said it was ok to drive to fiat ,
and fiat could not be bothered to look at it for 2 weeks but it snapped within a week of booking it in ,
Fiat say it's not there fault
Motability insurance rsa refunded my insurance excess ! Is that not admitting liability ??
I will keep you all posted

after what happened to you I wouldn't have faith in driving that car again, your wife will be on edge every time you go out in it, I would ask mobility if you can exchange the car for a different one.

motability told me to take it to 2 kwik-fits ( they said it was for fiat to look at ),and then onto fiat ,fiat just took copies of the print out and booked me in for 2 weeks time .
i just know that my car is my lifeline !!
