General Qubo blower swith only works on No.4

Heres the update, I purchased a resistor with from shop4parts because they had a search facility that bought up the part for the Fiat Qubo. It looks exactly the same as the picture Luigi has previoulsy posted (I am not sure that the aircon is an issue with this heater blower resistor as aircon was not mentioned and no alternative options given on the shop4parts site)
Anyway, part received £25 delivered.
I have tried but so far not been successful at getting the old part out, there is no screw on the part currently fitted. If you look at the picture Luigi posted there are some circular lugs moulded just below the green thing on the black plastic. I think these are holding the resistor in, the only way I can figure getting it out is by forcing a driver down the side or getting the dremel out and cutting it. Any thoughts?

I did plug the resistor unit in to test and yes the blower did work on all 4 settings!!! These things get hot pretty quick onlu had plugged in for 30 seconds and it was hot.

The heater blower resistor is now in place fitted and working!

The factory fitted resistor & connector is not held in place with any screws and is a real pain to remove.

I ended up drilling 4/5 holes either side of the connector pins, this then weakend enough to provide a bit of movement and pulled out with pliars.

The new fitting was easy to insert and then is secured tight with the screw provided.

Thanks again for all commentors help!

Hello again, After working for several weeks the problem is back again, The heater blower only works on position 4.
Am I just really unlucky or could something else be making the resistor blow / fail?

Thanks!

Thats unbelievable(n) You are either unlucky or theres something else is up.
Does the fan spin freely?
Did the resister come with any sort of guarantee?
Could there be a problem with the switch?
But symptoms are your resister is blown again:bang:

I have just emailed the resistor supplier as gaurentee is not mentioned anywhere on the website.
The fan seems to spin freely, I am not sure what to check on the switch.
It is strange as it worked before we went on holiday and the car was parked for a week, on return it did not work. I may just buy another resistor fit and see how long this one lasts. I will post if I find out anything else.

Resisters normally would last the life of the car,on all the cars i've owned i've never had resister issues.
It's just a thought but is your matrix ok? , as if its leaking it could be throwing coolant up

Had a motor a few years ago with the same problem, (not Fiat). Fault was eventually traced to the fan blades catching the heater matrix when it was hot.............caused 3 resistors to blow and be replaced before it was spotted................
Hope you get it sorted.
Cheers Qube O.

As suggested I emailed the Heater Resistor supplier and here is their response;
Fiat have now asked to fit the cable harness with the regulator to prevent failure. However we will ship the regulator FOC for you, as the directive came from Fiat UK after the part was supplied hope this helps.

Now my next problem will be fitting the regulator to the wiring harness, I will keep you posted how this goes when it is received.
