I have an intermittent seat belt warning light/beep as I'm driving which lasts between 1 - 3 seconds. I've tried fiddling with the buckle and checked all obvious wiring and connectors. There's no pattern as to when it happens and I've tried buckling the passenger belt, which makes no difference.

I don't want to take it to the stealers as they'll have it for a day and probably not find anything wrong. I suspect there's an occupancy sensor under my seat and a switch in the seat belt stalk. Anybody had similar problems?

I'm sure mine had this problem when it was still quite new... got it changed under warranty when it was in for a service.

So how are you going to get it fixed:confused: get it down to nearest dealer.

Many thanks for your reply and I know you make sense as it's more than likely the stalk. I won't go to the nearest dealer though as my experience with them on a number of occasions has been "diagnose fault, order part, wrong part sent, re-order part etc." I've said before on this forum, they are a multi-franchise of Renault, Kia, Citroen and Fiat and quality of service seems to be in that order.

I'll try the next nearest dealer and post the result.

check the plug under the seat is fully pushed together before you do anything else. Have you had anything under the seat recently?

Insist the DET (dealer expert tech) works on the car especially if you are paying, if it is under warranty he should be doing the diagnostic work anyway!

Alternatively download the free fiatscan software and buy a 16pin socket/lead and check it yourself (see elsewhere on this forum for details) (y)

In order to stop it altogether could you not just insert a fusible link (piece of bent wire) into the connector before the stalk to make it think you're always bolted in? YOU know when the belt is on or not on.

Just on the subject of under-the-seat, what's the large black box which is taking up space under the pilot's seat? T'aint my lunch.. ;)

Nothing under the seat except the usual collection of dog toys, tennis balls and a few coins!

I had another fiddle with the plugs under the seat and the stalk. Next trip NO BLEEP....... until I was two minutes from home and off it went again . I'll try R-V-M's tip and short-out the stalk switch, at least it will rule it in or out.
Failing that I'll invest in the multiecuscan - thanks T14086, or as a last resort I'll visit the next nearest dealer.

Don't know about the black box either - maybe it's just a "black box" :)

Not sure........but I think my dealer said in a conversation some time ago that the black box under the passenger seat was the Blue & Me command unit.........

Cheers Qube O.

I've wedged a U shape piece of wire in the back of the male plug under my seat and the bleep has stopped (y). It looks like a faulty stalk buckle sensor/switch so I'll check in with next nearest dealer to try and get it fixed. Watch this space and thanks for everyone's help.

I had call from wife once , asking if car had a problem as the seat belt warning was beeping, I was at a loss then had inpiration, 'got anything on passenger seat', "only a bag of dog food", 'make sure it's safe darling put the seat belt on it'
...

Thinking I'd saved them a job by diagnosing the fault, I phoned the nearest dealer to request they changed the drivers seat belt sensor. Phone was answered by the nice young lady who thought air and pollen filter was the same thing (see previous post). "we need to book the Qubo in for the day sir so that we can diagnose the fault". OK, once you've diagnosed the faulty sensor are you likely to have one in stock? "Unlikely sir, we'll order one and you can book the car in again for fitting". But I use the Qubo for my business and I can't afford to lose 2 days work. "No problem sir we have a courtesy car available on 10th September". Will my steps and tools fit in it? "Unlikely sir, it's a Twingo". Can I buy the sensor and fit it myself? "Yes sir but your warranty may be void". OK, I'll order one. "I'll connect you with the Parts Department sir, thank you....." after 5 minutes of waiting. I hung up. :bang:

I think R-V-M's wire link has become the permanent solution. (y) - unless the next-nearest dealer can sort it....... watch this space!!

I 'hate' poor dealers............thats why my last car went, a Kia, local dealership were a waste of time.
At least with my Fiat my local dealer is top notch.............

Cheers Qube O.

I had a quick look on my copy of multiecuscan and it looks like the seat belt beep can most likely be permanently switched off with the press of a laptop key

I don't know if it will do every model or not but in general, yes and reset the oil change/degradation on cars with dpf. You need the full version for most things though.

Yep - it does a lot of things, Free, €50 or €230 for the 3 versions (plus a hand held version for Win Mob and Win CE) Purchase via PayPal is a useful option too.

I would like to know all the things you can do with it though before buying and trying to decide which gadget I'd need to connect correctly to the Fiorino.

Also, what can be tweaked on the car (van) without one, as sometimes you can use multiple presses of buttons to enable/disable features.
I remember on my (07) Saab I could reset the service intervals by accessing a settings page in the menu and pressing the brake pedal at the same time.

Luigi, I don't have the 'lights on with ignition' as an option in my Menu. No doubt they reserve the right to change/upgrade/alter things without notification but I do like to see what can be done :)

R-V-M

It's not in the menu.......................
what you do is turn on your side lights with the ignition on and when you turn off the ignition the side lights will turn off.
when you turn the ignition back on the side lights will turn on also
