how do all,

I've got a 58 plate 1.3 dynamic, and last weekend I noticed quite a puddle where I had parked the car just after filling up.
Took it to a local independant garage today and said mech thinks that a seem/weld has gone at the mount/bracket just to the right of the filler neck on the tank, he got a quote for a new tank from his supplier and they came back saying that it was £656! and that it was a dealer only part? the tank is under half full now and still leaking (going up n down hills in the pennines I suspect is doing that when half full etc )
Is there any chance a citreon/pug tank would fit or is there any aftermarket bods that may be able to provide one at a normal non arse clenchingly expensive price?
thanks in advance.

That's an "I saw you coming" price!! Ridiculous when the car isn't that expensive to buy! It's about time the stealers took less (excessive) profits and warmed to the people who keep them in bread and butter..

Stealers....I like it! (y) Any ideas on citroen or pug nemo things having the same tank but cheaper? as I doubt many are in scrappies yet...

MTD, there's a scrapping Fiorino here - in Leeds where it looks snowy. The fuel tank must be the same across the range as they'd never produce 3 different tanks for the same shell. If they did the price would be even more ridiculous!

SOMEWHERE there must an exploded diagram of the various components of these vehicles and wiring diagrams etc. If Haynes produce manuals for Lancaster Bombers and Spitfires which AFAIK are no longer in production (there's even one for the A1 main-line loco TORNADO of which there was just ONE produced) then if we all write and pester, hassle and harangue them, due to the tens of thousands of Bipper/Nemo/Fiorinos world-wide they may get off their asses and do something about it.
See my link about Haynes Manual in the Fiorino section and write in to bend their collective ear.

Hehe - shame. It looked ok except for what you could see. Maybe there are others by now?

Van bulkhead going from 99p on the Bay, here - second-hand but 'working'.

Dunno if you are still looking but if you are

Give AllParts on Marsh Barton Trading Estate in Exeter Devon (01392 420460) a call they have one of the 3 brands on their racks for breaking, can't tell which brand it is coz the front end is smashed up and thats the end facing the road.

Why do people blame the 'stealers' for high parts prices, direct your anger at the manufacturer as they set the prices, there is very little mark up for dealerships.

Respectfully, they are the guys who take your hard-earned from you at the point of contact. There is no point of contact with the makers - they hide behind dealerships and almost refuse to have anything to do with us at ground level.

I remember once having a couple of garage letterheads (in the days of my Chevette) and buying some Lucas parts at the supplier for trade price and being pleasantly surprised how cheap they were to me then but also almost offended by the actual RRP. Surely that suggests the dealers mark-up is high?

The car market in general seems a complete rig though - the motor traders set the cost price to us and also the trade-in prices so we're stuffed from the minute we decide to buy a motor. Just look at 'leaving the forecourt' depreciation.

nah tis a metal one.
I may have found a replacement just depends on the fuel sender unit dimensions if they can be swapped over....

yeah all in and working fine, the leak was in between the mounting bracket seem we think....I'd spend more in fuel looking for someone that could/would want to do the job tbh, and as the replacement tank only cost £40 incl pnp......:slayer:

and now the replacement tank is leaking in the same place FFS!

:bang: (n)

yarp a nice puddle, the nearer to half full the less it has leaked but its been raining in jockland quite abit lately so can't reall check....would v hot weather over-pressurise it?
also, I've been looking for replacement tanks and apparently some environmental regs have come in that mean all fuel tanks have to be punctured to drain the residue fuels out or some such malarkey....rather helpful that....(n)
