Hi, I have a 2009 1.3 Diesel Fiorino van which is pretty much a Qubo, and the heater is appalling. Does anyone have problems with the Qubo heater?

I appreciate we've had a bit of a cold snap, but it can take 10 minutes of normal driving before the temp guage needle starts to climb, and even when fully warmed upI get a very poor output from the heater on full heat. Demist times are very poor even with the air con on, and putting my hand over the vents with full heat selected it feels only warm.

Is this common or could there be a fault?

Thanks,
Dave

I don't know about the 1.3, but the 1.9 takes a while to warm up. Diesels!
The trick is to turn the heating off and switch the fan off until the engine begins to warm. It means driving in a coat, and maybe with the window open for a few minutes to preevent steaming, but that's the best way to give the engine a chance to get hot. If you turn the heating on and the fan up from cold all you are doing is adding to the engine cooling and it will take forever to heat up.

Diesels all take longer than petrols to give warmth; because they waste less heat, being more efficient. Nothing's free unfortunately.

My new Qubo mjet seems no worse than my previous 2 diesels (Mazda 6 and Vectra), taking about 3 miles of driving at 50-60mph to get warm, then another couple of miles to reach full heat.

Thanks all, seems it might just be the tiny engine is struggling with a large empty cabin to heat. I'm very tempted to throw some money at a Webasto or similar.

I never go out in winter without long johns and a thermal vest. I work nights, but I wear the same kit by day too, and in the house. I don't do cold. I know people who wear jeans next to the skin and wonder why they are freezing.

In other words, visit Primark and get a few pairs of thermals. You'll be amazed at the difference, and far cheaper than messing about with auxiliary heaters and spending a fortune for only a few months in the year.

Hi there! On my qubo it gets hot only when the engine temp is up. Also the outer heater dials are never ever as hot as the centre two.
Despite the dials, I almost think there are three setting! cold-mid and hottest!
I came to the qubo to save money after a old mercedes e class estate so I certainly dont expect the same. Demisting seems quicker though- but it rivals a green house for glass ft sq!!!
cheers, toady
