I have a Punto 60S mk1 (1998).

The car died on me mid-drive as if it had stalled and wouldn't re-start the AA guy said there was fuel pressure to the injector and all electrics working, spark plug, crank, etc after the injector but injector wasn't injecting fuel for some reason.
So I got another fuel injector from breakers yard but still no joy (the chances of two injectors being faulty??) called AA guy out again and he says the other fuel injector isn't working either and it needs to be new but they're nearly £90 (vat inc) brand new and 12 week lead time and I'm not sure if he's quoted me the right part and it's £90 wasted if this is the case.
So called a local mobile mechanic who sprayed some solvent based cleaner into carb and it started but dies after solvent was burn't and he can't pinpoint it either.
So I had two guys out from the AA both say fuel injector and one mobile motor mechanic who is also baffled.

I'm desperate has anyone ever heard of this before or can tell me what part number the fuel injector is, so I can get a new one. Everything I've tried through google/ask jeeves just gets me tons of adverts wanting my e-mail address to spam me to death or adverts to buy cars.

HELP
Kind Regards,
Tired.

Never heard of an injector dead before. I'll post you one that I know works and you can try it....cost of p&p if it works you can give me some funding if it doesn't send it back.

Has anyone checked the connections to the ecu?
Really checked them?
Have you had a system check on it?

I'd really appreciate that. :worship:
The AA guy checked the voltage going through the various engine parts as mentioned and no problem but I haven't had an auto electrician run a diagnostic on it yet. Would you advise that first and how much is that likely to cost?
regards

I've got one in the garage, pm me your address, Punto MK1 spi? Please confirm.

I've never taken mine to have a diagnostic 'cos I don't think a lot of mechanics at all. Watched too many friends (and me) ripped off.

However, for you in your situation you need to check this.

Look at it this way - 2 injectors broke (as you state) unlikely.
Runs when fuel injected into system.
Terefore No fuel
What operates the fuel?
ecu
If the ecu is operating correctly and the injector is ok it could be the wiring in between.
Storytime.....
I once had an untraceable problem - disconnected the Lambda, only for a wire to come out of the connector as I pulled. Problem solved :( . The wire had fractured inside the connector - sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't....
Worth taking a look at the wiring 'cos its only time and its free (y)

If you want the injector I can send it tomorrow.

I have had a auto tuner on it who has done a diagnostic check on it and found that the earthing of the injector wire was not earthing which "tripped out" the way the ECU controlled the injection unit which meant the injector wasn't broken it was just this, so he reset the ECU to the original factory settings and the injector started firing and all is well in the world again.........

I can't show my appreciation enough it's all down to your reply and help that this problem was fixed :worship:
