Am I right in thinking that mk1 Puntos were only offered with two different types of alloys as standard (see pics below)?

1.6 Sportings and GT's had the 5 spoke alloys?

1.2 Sportings had the 11 spoke alloys?

So the questions are:

1. Which ones will fit a 75SX without any mods (spacers etc.)

2. Which ones do everyone think would suit a 3 door non bodykitted SX better?!!!

Many thanks (y)

Oops, forgot to add pics of the wheels

Wrong.

1.6 8v Sporting came with the (nasty) 11 spokes as you put it.

1.2 16v Sporting and GT1, GT2's came with the silver 5 spokes.

GT3's came with the dark version of the 5 spokes.

Any will fit without spacers or mods but you will have to get alloy wheel bolts.

The 5 spokes look better imo.

the 5 spoke ones do look alot better, but dont you have that sick colour? with black bumpers? them 1.6 ones might look alright, how about the abarth ones? a set ended on ebay for £60 the other day :(

but some sporting/gt skirts and some of the 5 spoke alloys would look well smart :)

Cheers for the heads up Goldie. For some reason I thought the 11 spoke alloys were fitted to the later cars

Didn't the GTs and Sportings have vented front discs? That's why I wondered whether they would fit a 75SX without spacers as the 75SX has solid discs (at least I'm fairly sure they do).

What's a good price to pay for a set of four? I missed out on a set of 5 spoke alloys with manky tyres yesterday that went for £33 (I had to go out and missed the end of the auction :bang:), and I also missed out on a set of 11 spokes with good tyres that went for £60 (someone clicked 'buy it now' before I did :bang:)

I quite like the 11 spoke alloys I must admit  They have shades of 'Minilight' about them, though I can't recall seeing what they look like on a Punto. I guess the deciding factor will be which alloys come up at the right price and that are near enough for me to go and collect. I'm also looking for a set with good tyres, as I need a set all round and it is sometimes cheaper to but second hand alloys with good tyres rather than new tyres on their own.

Decisions decisions!

That's a very quaint way of putting it Beau  Lol! Yes, that sort of gold/ green snot colour (Xplode Gold?) :p

with black bumpers?

Yes. Pre facelift mk1. Probably going to keep them black as being on the edge of London 'touch parking' is the norm, so painted bumpers will look manky in no time :(

them 1.6 ones might look alright, how about the abarth ones?

Abarth alloys for the Punto? Are they different to the pics I posted? Do you have a pic you could post up?

a set ended on ebay for £60 the other day :(

If you mean the set below, I was going to bid but someone beat me to it

I think the same seller also had some sideskirts up. Problem is they go for a fair amount and would need more money to spray them to match my car and I'm trying to do it as cheap as possible. Why did I decide to go back and be a student at my age?!!! :bang:

Sporting's have solid's and GT's have vented.

As for prices depends on which ones they are and what the condition of them is, also if they have good tyres or not.

As for buying second hand alloys with good tyres being cheaper than new tyres on there own i know that, i bought a spare set of gt3's with good tyres used the tyres up and still sold them on for a profit. (most luck ive ever had mind lol)

If you get GT1 or Sporting 1.6 or 1.2 side skirts they are just black plastic non painted.

As for abarth alloys they are what cinqpunto has on his.

Some of the later lower model puntos came with alloys as extras but they arnt that pretty either.

black bumpers look good if kept black, once they go grey :yuck:

lucky i kept them in my ebay ;) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=170079636568&rd=1&rd=1

so bloody cheap, cant believe it, especially with v good tyres

knew you was talking about that broughton person, his excellent, iv probably used him about 15+ times, his very cheap for some bits, eg- centre console, £5, alloys worth £300-400- £50  (y) , leather seats- £25 (y) etc etc lol

yes i saw them too, but buy a set of the non painted black ones, they will look good with your non painted bumpers :)

The 85elx came with different alloys....but they were fugly

Were also only 165's but I can't even find a photo, so finding a set would be pretty impossible i guess...

Maybe why I managed to sell my scuffed ones, with naff tyres for £250...plus P&P :D

Sporting's have solid's and GT's have vented.

And weren't the 5 spokes fitted to both Sportings AND GTs? No difference in the offset seeing as the GTs had vented discs and the Sportings didn't?

As for prices depends on which ones they are and what the condition of them is, also if they have good tyres or not.

Which ones normally go for less? That will probably be the deciding factor for me

I need a bit of that luck! :p

If you get GT1 or Sporting 1.6 or 1.2 side skirts they are just black plastic non painted.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. Am I getting mixed up with the Abarth skirts that are normally painted? How do the plastic skirts fit onto the sills? My sills are completely smooth and have no attachments or fittings on them...

Goldie - Abarth Alloys look nice, but I guess they will also be the most expensive.

Beau - I don't like black wheels! :yuck: I know a lot of people do, but not me. Silver all the way ;)

Miss*Virmin - Can't recall what 85ELX alloys look like? If I find a set cheap enough with good tyres I might have to fit fugly wheels to mine :p

Anyone know of a set going in the S/E area then give me a shout (y)

Yes the 5 spokes are on both. they will fit a lower model fine trust me.

i'd say the 11 spokes go for less but depends on the seller and what custom is about at that time.

As for fitting them you will need some bolts if you look on the bottom of the outer sill you should have some rubber caps, you remove these and the holes in the side skirts will line up with theses you just need to stick some bolts in then. (afaik)

As for the top edge/lip just use some bond, stickaflex or tigerseal to hold them on.

im talking about the skirts being black

i think the 11 spokes will go cheaper too, but the 5 spokes might be cheaper cos there more readily available.

iv got a set of the 11 spokes for sale ;) 2 tyres arnt great, they would fail and mot on the cracked on the side but my sister was still driving on them and there heavily curbed.

Cheers for the heads up Goldie (y) I'll get a set of wheels first then look into some sideskirts. Mustn't spend my student bursary all at once :(

Beau - Oops! I thought you meant black wheels would go well with black skirts. Misread your posting, sorry  Have you any pictures of the 11 spokes and what sort of price are you looking for? I really need tyres, but want alloys on my car too :D
