Hey guys,
Theres a soft and quiet hissing coming from the engine when rev'd. Cant hear is when its idle..

Someone thought fuel injectors.. but im not sure.
Any ideas?

Also..
The car, when idle, stinks - to put it bluntly. It smells like rotten eggs coming from the engine. Any ideas what that COULD be? Someone suggested the CAT but its been changed not too long ago, so it's defo not that...

Cheers

Get sumone to rev it while your under the bonnet try and locate where the hissing is comeing from and post back let us know, And about your egg smell if it is the cat they normally like that when thy are new or when they are breaking up..

nah only kidding.,., i recon the manifold aswell, like someone said have a look under the hood and you can rev it from the throtle cable on the left rear of the engine.,.,

not true, its down to fuel you are using. sometimes it causes a more sulphor like smell. doesn't say anything about the cat at all; just it was more noticeable on cars with cats

... just about ALL cars now have cats... and im using the same fuel as everyone here... lol bog standard unleaded :)

thats where i'm going wrong...
haha:p

i might try a fuel supplement tomorrow, did it before and it worked so i'll give it a shot

What arc is prob saying dont use supermarket petrol, but i dont believe thats the cause im still gonna say its the new cat or could be heater matrix that lets off a eggy smell?

i only mentioned the cats, because when cats were introduced the smell was noticed more and people blamed it on the cats when in fact it was chemicals in the fuel, i know all cars have cats now - but the myth that the eggy smell is from the cat stills hangs about.. like a bad eggy smell.

yes, you are using unleaded - but not all unleaded is the same, exactly what is in the fuel will vary and sometimes there is more of the stuff that brakes down to form eggy smells.

a blown heater matrix might result in a mouldy damp smell, but it would stink inside.

Exactly, thats why i dont believe its anything to do with the fuel but worth a shot hope it sorts the problem out.. (y)

an eggy smell isnt a problem, well, from the car it isnt anyway.
