Hi guys,

My Punto 85 ELX I got last month has proven to be a superb buy! I am glad to get one as my fist car.

The one problem I have found is with the front electric windows. When I try to lower the windows you hear a whirring but they dont move. Also the windows also seem to fall down slightly.

Could this be the motors? I went to a scrap yard and a set of motors from a Punto SX Model would set me back. If it is the motors would these be suitable?

Thanks in advance.

yeah the motor be all the same, you normally replace the motor and mechanism in one go

It should be an easy problem to solve then? So I guess it would be the motors that is the cause?

Cool thanks Dave :) I am so happy with my little baby it is just these Windows are the main problem that needs to be solved.

So it shouldn't be a hard thing to do?

Same prob here, mine have a tendency to slow down and stop during closing. Is it worth changing them with a pair from scrapys or should i go for new ones? Don't wanna waste money if second hand will do for a reasonable price.

Hello...not many of us 85elx drivers around :D

The window mechanisms are really easy, I done 3 of mine myself.

Just pop the door card off and it's 3 bolts and a clip...plug and play :)

:D I feel honoured! I love this car and especially as I put my 6x9 speakers in. so I need both the motors and mechanisms then ill probs get em the weekend then

I've only used 2nd hand ones, they have been fine..but obviously they are the same age (if not older) than the ones taken off, but my wires were fraying and it was the cheeper option

I love mine too :) but it's a pain when it comes to parts...especially wing mirrors, the other makes of colour coded mirrors are for 3 doors off the GT and sporting and don't fit my one...Got any pics of yours?

I've changed my speakers, and I've also got gt skirts and black halos, I've got BK racers on at the moment...but saving up for some black team dynamics :yum:

I have just got back from Work and I am shattered :( I got a couple and I gonna take some more in the morning which I will put up :)

I got a few jobs to do on it like the windows, but apart from that I ws surprised to get such a good car for £560.

If they slow down/stop it's likely that they just need lubricating, buy a can of silicon spray and apply liberally to the mechanism, could save you even more money ;)

halfords sells silicone spray, its made by 3in1 peeps.

and will set you back abou £4.50

most motorfactors will look at you funny when you ask for silicone spray.

as for motor changes, its just as easy to replace the whole regulator (slidy bit with blue pipe sticking out of it) as it is for just the motor.

from scrappies £10 each I would imagine, MOAH if you live near london as they seem to think their scrapyards down their are paved with gold (n)
