Hi everyone,

Acutally I had this problem 6 months back, when I was engaging first gear and slowly releasing the clutch. It was screaming only for a second. At the same time gearbox was making bit of noise inside the cabin. After few days noise worsen and it was happening in 2nd gear as well. And within few days the Gearbox damaged.

I changed it (from scrapyard). The noise gone. But since few weeks again I am facing same problem. It is screaming same way. I cant sense any gearbox noise in cabin but mechanic said I could go anytime.

So this problem is with gearbox or other ?? I felt the gear became bit hard esp. 1st gear... The car already done 74K

Any help will be appreciated...

sounds like a thrust bearing to me,does it go when you dip the clutch?

mine did this, and I couldn't get into any gear atall.

heres a picture of what WAS LEFT of my clutch, totally wrecked!!!!





it takes a long time to change the gearbox, you might aswell change the clutch while you are at it.

to custard, it screams when I start moving from stand in first gear only and it is only for a sec or two.

As you said faster4_tec, Can I check the clutch without unscrewing it ?? and from the condition am I able to check wether it is damaged or not ? And If i ignor this problem , will it effect any other parts of the car ???

if you leave it, and your clutch comes OFF the gearbox shaft, it will possibly break the engine casing, causing and oil leak, and the engine will be broken.

WHEN YOU REPLACE THE GEARBOX replace the clutch at the same time, as it is a simple job once you have removed gearbox.
clutchs are also cheap.
my new cluch cost me £55 or 75euro
