Hi,
Right I'm about to buy a MK1 '97 Punto Sporting from my next door neighbour for £1100, its got 54k on clock and has FSH (last at 47k). I had a spin in it and was impressed, only thing that played on my mind was that the gear knob/stick wobbles quite a bit, it could be that the exhaust is quite loud and vibrating it, but it could be something more sinister! It changes gear fine and I had no problems moving it around the gearbox, just thought I'd check before parting with the cash.

Any help ASAP would be fantastic!

Cheers,
Si

Wobbles while in gears..? does it get worser the faster you go or that just a guess might be the gearbox mount...

It was the same really throughout different speeds. Just felt really wobbly.
Would you advise I buy the car or leave it alone, I don't want to be getting it with problems really.

Si

mine has the same problem,
got a new clutch fitted last week and now its MUCH MUCH worse.

anything between 40-70feels like its gonna shake to bits.

get over 80 and it smooth's out.

I am suspecting diff is getting bad, or the clutch isn't as centralised as it should be(n)

AS usual the garage made a fuba, hence why I like doing stuff myself. no fuba maker me.

I think its diff and general gearbox wear.

but it could be my wheels needing a serious balance though:confused:
