My 1995 punto 55sx has been overheating for some time, i have just had a new water pump, because that was leaking anyway, but the fan still wont come on, before i had the new water pump, when it overheated because of the water loss, when i took the cap off the fan would come on im guessing this is because of a pressure change in the cooling system, therefore my problem is definatley my thermostat????

If it is my thermostat, ive found the part on shop4parts but where actually is it under the bonnet, and how easy would it be to fix myself, or is there a test i can do to see if it is my thermostat?

Sorry for this essay but it is really annoying after getting a new water pump fitted for £160 only to find it still overheats (less than it used to thankfully)

Its very simple to change, you can test your old one by dropping it in boiling water to see if it opens (my old 1.2 8v was meant to open at 88 degrees, probaly a similar spec for the 55 lump).
