TBH there aren't many punto followers that feel the need to race them

What is wrong in that? It is a hell of a lot of fun to upset much 'better' cars on the track with a properly prepared Punto Mk1.

I have a halfway finished race project in front of my garage and know a few people racing them most of the time with a big grin on their face.

Hi

Do you have a series over there for the punto?.... there is a one class punto series over here and its very competitive the cars are quick and cheep to race as the tech reg's are very limited, nearly standard engine and box, suspension Leda and springs free.... and i agree with you they do put a smile on your face:) .... they will lap the mondello international circuit in 2.07's which is faster than most people can lap it on a track day in much more expensive so called performance cars....are you allowed to alter the cars much?....

in what sense?

on here the concept of 'benchracing' hasn't really taken off.

Circuit racing!...."Concept of benchracing" what do you mean by that?....Do you race if so in what class?....

fraid I don't know of any punto race series over here:(

benchracing = a forum slang (formed on the turbobricks forum:slayer: ) for 'my turbo's bigger than yours' leads to 'well I have XXcc injectors'.
basically its just for bigging it up on paper, you then settle at the quarterly forum meet

You should know that we are here years behind. We are glad to have the Euro Italia championship, which allows all sorts of cars (it used to be Italian only).

The Fulda challenge is possibly the closest to what you have over in Ireland, but it is not limited to one model.

they have a punto mk1 champhion ship over here in ireland alrite, and a abarth class and a uno class. the unos are unreal, there races are the best fun to watch.
