Hello

I bought a 1996 punto today, all day it's been fine to start, but I popped to the shop earlier and when I went to start it, it just wouldn't start.

When I turn the key in the ignition, the code light and fuel lights come on, the radio works and so do the windows but that is it.

I've tried both red and blue keys but it won't start.

Can someone please help me, because obviously I would like to drive it and I want to prove to my boyfriend that Fiats aren't rubbish.

when you say the code light comes on does it go off ??? if it dont go off then thats why it wont start as the immobilizer is still on.

if it does go out, does the car turn over but just not fire up. does it try to fire up but wont quiet start.?

if the code light is on check for a dislodged induction loop around the ignition barrel.
remove the cowling to see it,even being slightly to far from the key will stop it picking up the keys code.

This is the first car I've had with an immobiliser, so I haven't got a clue!!!

well if the light goes out then immobiliser is off so thats a start. i think i have read somewere that there is an fuel cut off switch someone in passenger footwell wonder if that could of been knocked. not sure were it is though any know ??

mine does that too ... either my battery or my alternator needs replacing not sure which yet though. have you tried recharging ur battery?
