My friend has what looked like a Punto MK1 Cabriolet (It was really dark and I didn't go over to inspect)

He has lost the ignition key which has the immobiliser code on it and can't start the car.

How would he get a new key and roughly how much would it cost?

Is there anyway he could start the car without the immobiliser key?

Thanks ppl :)

well the problem is if its a coded ecu you need to replace the ecu, keys, locks etc.
or pay for a decoded ecu, serious haggling involved there
cant really start it else theres no use in the imob ;)

As custard said yeah you would have to replace the ECU with new keys think that would cost like 800? i know this because my key snapped and if i couldint get it out the barrow i would have had to get a whole new barrow ECU and keys but lucky enough a locksmith got it out maybe the serial number on the barrow give that to a fiat dealership see if they can find a match coz there is matchin barrows out there its only by luck if they can though. :)

when i went to fiat abotu getting a red key because i didnt get it with the car i was quoted 1000 for the following

new locks immoboliser code box (gt ecu isnt coded its self) and 3 new keys)

funny thing is they didnt say if tht was fitted got a feeling it isnt lol
