General Overheating On Tickover Y???

Is the radiator fan coming on? My 60s takes an eternity and the engine gets VERY hot before it turns on...

ITS A 1995 MK1 1.1 55S and the fan does come on i just replaced it gt a bargain at the gud old scrappy lol (y) just need tht problem doin and then i can drive it dnt want it to overheat in traffic lol

This problem occurred before or after the swap? tbh considering what I have to do to get my 60 to overheat (ie over 30min of stop start traffic in hot weather, as I said, indirectly, the only problem was that the overheating light would flicker on & off for about 15~20 seconds before the fan kicked in, the S doesn't have a temp gauge! :() you might have an airlock or some kind of or the water circuit may need flushing out, when you're doing any kind of speed the airflow is much higher than a rad fan can ever achieve.

it happened b4 and i noticed the fan dint come on at all so replaced it and then flushed the pipes out wiv my m8s jet washer but still happening:confused: and how cud i get rid ov an air lock lol

I thought flushing the water system was a little more in depth than pushing high-presure water through the system... As for an air-lock bleed the water system, which I don't know how to do and cba to find my Haynes...

Mine's got the same problem, altho the fan does appear to be intermittent... the fan only kicks in sometimes and the water's boiling at other times. That's on a 15 minute trip with 2 traffic light stops...

I think I broke it.

If they provided the Uno MK2 45S with a temp gauge... WHY not its replacement? The rev counter and lekkie windows fairy snuff.. stuff for the SX... but a temperature gauge? :bang:

i think the 45s wasnt the base model uno, the base model was the start- no temp gauge :)

My 45s was about as basic as you get... bless it... I still keep wondering if I'd rather get an MK2 Uno turbo in black... only problem is I barely fit into the things!

Sorry... off topic *slaps own wrist*

Well... I just topped up the coolant on my Punto... and I've taken a look at the cabling... some of it looks fairly suspect... but I'm definitely eyeing the fan sensor and maybe even the fan itself...

Anyone fancy joining me on a raid to the bodyshop where the vultures have my SX? At least I know the front end of that one works... and the bodywork and back end of this one are ok...

But no... that's naughty...

...give it a couple more months.

had a car do that and on mine it was diagnosed as one of 2 problems. eother head gasket had gone or the water pump was fecked it was oldc ar and blades can wear down so at tick over they werent pushing enough water round. anyway i never got to find out exactly wich one of the 2 it was as i wrote the car off before fixing lol

yer just found out that the waterpump needs replacing going to the scrap yard 2 moro (y)

how much wud tht cost or is it an easy job dnt know much bout the cam belt never touched one before
