ive got a punto 1996 55 on saturday i drive about 50 miles with no problems engine temp remained approx 50 - 75% got to my destination and the needle kept goin to cut a long story short radiator bottle was overflowin n radiator was cold also in car heaters lowin cold air only!

ive been told by friends it could b the water impeller/pump or my thermostat any1 had these problems can u help?

I had a similar problem, one minute everything ok sat in traffic then temp through the roof, water pouring out of filler bottle.I suspected an air lock but had no idea how it could have happened. I found no matter how many times i tried to bleed the system the pressure kept building up, forcing water out of the filler bottle. I removed the Thermostat and stuck in some boiling water to test - it didnt budge, stuck closed. It cost me about £10 for a new one. My advice would be to take the thermostat out and test it, either way you will have to empty your coolant. Good luck and post what you find

If the rad was overflowing then the water pump must be working, i'd also say change the thermostat.
