Technical punto 75 emissions control system / charcoal canister

reason i ask is because Cinquecentos have them, and the ECU throws its toys out the pram if you unplug.. and it connects to the EFI unit.. and i can't see any where on the Punto 75 setup to connect it to.

The Punto 75 and Cinquecento are of the same age, so i would expect them both to have them.

tom has just told me this;

it connects from the intake stream to the fueltank

jsut has a look on eper, and it does look like the fuel is meant to go right through it.. but there is nothing on the P75 fuel rail that imo would connect to the canister like on the cinq.

I wonder what would happen if i just didnt plumb it in, but left it there to keep the ECU happy?

On the cinq how it works is a bit like:

Can is connected to the tank at all times. Fuel vapour collects in it and is fed back in short bursts to the throttle body under certain conditions, via the solenoid valve built into the can. There should be no liquid fuel fed into it or drawn from it.

I'd imagine the 75 will have it plumbed into the throttle body in a similar manner to the cinq.

Hello Arc,
Yes they definitely have them, my `94 75 does anyway and I guess they wouldn't have deleted it later on. Its located just under the air box intake (at the very front on the driver side). How its connected I would not know, but could take some pictures if required.

it makes no sense to enter the TB though.. there is no fueling going on in there. I only spotted two pipes on the fuel rail, one bringing fuel in and the other being the return.

Some photos would be handy if you could Phil, ta.

There is a 75 in the scrappy near me, i'll have to go take a peek at that when i get a chance later in the week.

i thought it was returned to the tank, ie pressure held in the canister and then every now and again purged back tankward..

hmm.. i should've had a better look at the MPI tb before i boxed it up ready to be posted!

Heres some piccys.

thanks (y)

I got all confused when i thought that it should be connecting to the fuel rail, i've already boxed up the TB ready to be sent, so couldnt check on that!
