Goodafternoon everyone,

might be a weird question...
does someone still sell these seat linings.
my front seats are quite worn and i would like to repair them....

i'm working on my Punto 60sx fortuna power
almost done with a abarth 595 swap with haltech elite 1500.
so the next thing up will be the interior

thanks in advance,

its the same project indeed, in the previous years i tried a couple of engines.
rev1: stock block with a MPI head 262 catcams, supersprint headers and a microsquirt ecu, combined with the 6 speed of a mk2 sporting.

rev2: newer 1.4 8v vvt ported heads same ecu, headers, p75 intake (95 hp/140nm)

and now this idiotic idea, bought a good as new engine and gearbox (25k miles) with a supersprint downpipe. made the Punto gt gearbox mounts fit and modified the Fire engine mount. rewired the engine with drive by wire and hydraulic clutch(the lefthand drive punto had cable).

but thats only the engine side of things. almost all the rust has been fixed and car is repainted in the original colour. whole frontend is upgraded to GT spec and rear is coming soon. 3cm lowerd, KYB Ultra SR dampers. steering wheel controls reused for cruisecontrol via the new ecu.

and the list goes on... it was my first car, had a lot of difficult times and tinkering with it made me go trough it :)

so in a nutshell its a keeper :p

Thanks, i do really like these cars. meanwhile as a daily i drive a grande punto 95hp. but every time i drive the old punto it brings a smile on my face!

its great to see projects like the Exploit Yellow 75sx and many others. I find that these car kinda get underrated by the mass. they may look boring or not special at first sight, but it all makes sense when driving one. at least thats my biased opinion :p

i've been looking for others punto's too, even some GT's just never pulled the trigger to buy one. couldn't let this one go, my father gave this one to me after using it for 13 years, so kinda grew up in it too... (i'm 25yo atm)

I do see them rarely, my local fiat dealer sold all the old manuals and stuff because they never see them anymore. i'm one of the last ones around in my city

luckly i got hands on a set of original fiat books (1-3 and electric diagnoses).

even the wreckers don't have MK1's.... i do know a couple of guys in the North of The Netherlands with a couple of GT's. and once in a while the organise a meeting. But with the whole covid and such it quite difficult. I guess the same goes for you overthere...

Anyways, i got my self a full interior from a 95 GT, the seats are still quite nice and they're the bucket style instead of the flatter ones in the 60SX.

But im not sure if i like the colour, i might miss the 90's funky look of the current interior

i've always been more into cinquecentos and seicentos myself.. But i did have a GT once, was certainly one of my favourite cars i've owned - only really sold it due to change in life circumstances, wish i still had it.

Here she is, she was a completely bone stock GT, a rare thing then and more so now.. I think its still alive somewhere but I lost track after a few owners after me

Great project ??, good to see someone looking after one of these great little cars, like blu says so many were scrapped and repairs often outweighed worth of them so they are a rare sight now over here, I do see a blue two door 60s locally that an old lady has and I’m sure she’s had it from new.
I bet it goes well with that motor transplanted in it ? , have you done the mechanics yourself?

blu73 nice gt, indeed a loss when you sold it. But i can understand why you sold it. There is sometimes no other option....

With a little help from my brother and father. We all help each other out when it comes to solving electrical and mechanical problems on our project cars.
My brother has a 320i e30 bmw and my father a fiat spider 1980 2L (both with high comp pistons)

When the car runs, it should make near about 160-170hp and 280nm, at least this is what they go about when they’re chipped these days with the ihi turbo.

I used an Airtec intercooler kit for the abarth 595 and modified it to fit the mk1. Futher a barchetta radiator ( these are massive :0) and the stock gearbox from the abarth 595 (which is almost the same as the GT but a bit stronger, iron bearing plates instead of aluminum on the GT)

Does anyone have experience with the coupe turbo brakes (brembo ones)
Is the subframe strong enough to cope with the extra stopping power?

blu73 okay, that will be the next chapter. First get the car running and on the dyno before mot

Mean while, the coolant pipe reroute is done and drying now. Custom hydraulic clutch line is made and all key barrels are replaced

It wont be long for the first start if it all goes well.....

Hey all, has been a while. Project is almost ready for the dyno, after some setbacks i still need to do a couple of things. I got the abs sensors for the GT front axle, but i dont know how the cable is routed. Perhaps missing some components….

I could get some photos of how the cables are routed from mine if that’s any use ??

Hope these help ??the cable clips onto a bracket that’s bolted through the bottom of the inner wing , then runs forward and up the inside of the engine bay to a connector, couldn’t get a photo of that as it’s too close to the engine.

Thanks a lot, bit of a weird routing isn’t it?
I bought the damper brackets, the other ones i need to make or make a different routing.
Anyways, there might be a bigger problem. I ran the starter and after a couple of times still no oil pressure…. The car is on stands ar the front, so it could be not enough oil but i have my doubts. I do read it takes a while to fill up the system on a tjet after it has been sitting for months but still…
