Hello All,
I was just wondering if anybody knows my newly acquired project?
It is a Mk1 Sporting in Silver, registration S817RNG.
Apparently only one owner from new which is quite unusual as these tend to go through many hands.
I have saved it from the breakers and it WILL return to the road!
Anyway, if anyone has any previous knowledge of this car, I would love to hear from you as I have nothing but a V5, so no history etc etc.
Thanks in advance! (Fingers crossed)

Hello, thanks for replying.
Sadly, the new V5 does not show previous owner details due to the GDPR regulations.
All I know is it is Norfolk registered, with just one owner.
My guess is perhaps said owner has passed away as the car has been off the road since 2017 and recently taken to a salvage yard.
It's in pretty good order, very straight, runs lovely and no obvious rust.
An imminent mot will reveal all though!

Give Desira a ring see if you can get some of the original service history (assuming it was bought from Desira) also look a the mot history online this will tell you where it was MOT’d and chances are the owner would have had it serviced at the same garage.

wowza, that looks re-markedly clean for a scrapyard find! Well spotted and saved sir (y)

Thank you! Yes, much better than I expected.
More intrigue - got the V5 through today and it says registered Feb 1999 but declared manufactured 1998, used overseas?
A military import perhaps, or Jersey? Who knows and probably never will!

or just not sold off a forecourt immediately, they don't always register cars until actually sold. it was registered at the beginning of a year too

No, not in this case, it was "previously registered or used overseas"

Can't find out where now sadly.

Good save.

It looks clean, but it was presumably taken off the road due to the long list of fails and advisories at the last MOT?

Nothing which can’t be sorted of course, but plenty for most owners to give up on it. I’m guessing they just parked it up after the fail, and have now decided to get rid of it.

Hope you get it sorted. (y)
