it could be a fracture or poor fitting in the pipe that connects to the fuel filter, that looks wet , might be worth having a look in the inspection plate underneath the rear seat to see if itís coming from any of the pipes that connects to the fuel pump or the seal holding the pump in ( be gentle they can become brittle)

Re: Fuel Leak Punto 1994

A classic fault which I have had causing that drip is if the fuel inlet and outlet pipe stubs on top of the fuel pump crack due to stress caused by the stiff plastic fuel pipes, so the car still runs but fuel is being forced out of the cracks and over the top of the tank, dripping out where it can.

Remove the rear seat and the triangular cover plate to expose the fuel pump, start up and you will see it happening before your eyes. I cured mine with short lengths of 6mm copper tubing gently rubbed down to push inside these stubs with some 24hr Araldite or similar, when dry poke through to ensure fuel will pass in quantity and refit. My repair has lasted 20 years.

Re: Fuel Leak Punto 1994

Hi mate 200% sure that is the seal ring on the top of the tank were the fuel pump sits. Happened to my car too. I went to the gas station. I filled up and was another guy in a car behind me that told me. I knew it was not a hole or something. Took me a few days to discover where the leak was from but I found it.
Underneath the rear seat there is a cover with 3 screws. Take that out. Carefully release the fuel pipes. Be carefull as the entrance and exit of the fuel on the fuel pump are quite sensitive. Unscrew that big kind of lid that screws on the fuel tank. Maybe you might have to use a rubber malet to hit it gently or a hammer or mallet and something that you can put against those kind of lines that go all around that lid. Remove the fuel pump carefully and slowly as fuel will drip. Carefull with the fuel level indicator that is attatched to the fuel pump. Almost sure the seal is slack due to age. You can buy that seal very cheap on ebay or Auto Doc.
To put back is the same thing. That ring/lid that attaches to the fuel tank can be a pain in the butt to put back. When it is placed correctly, it touches the fuel pump evenly. Many time is gets in a bit of an angle so it is not good.
If you are around or close to the Eastbourne area (BN22)I can give you a hand.
Hope I helped.
Regards
