Can anyone help. Have always found this site useful before.
My wife has a Fiat punto 55 sx. The indicators started to flash really quickly when braking, and now gone Mad... when the headlights are turned on, the rear indicators work the opposite way, ie, when indicating left, the rear right indicator is flashing away ( and still speeding up when braking). Also the rear fog light button on dashboard lights up when braking. When lights are off, indicators flash correctly!!!
Obviously an electrical fault, but can I do anything myself before taking to electric repair shop...Cheers.:bang:

I had the same sort of problem with my punto (indicators flashing wildly, lights on dashboard lighting up, brakelight coming on with the indicator). I sent it twice to a fiat dealer and they charged me an arm and a leg. Found out all they had done was use a bit of sellotape.
It kept happening so i tried to fix it myself and managed to fix it.
The problem is that there was a fault in the back lightbox itself. what keeps happening is that the connectors for the different bulbs hit off each other which causes a sort of short in the circuit. Take the whole light box apart and fiddle around with all the connectors and the metal strips and make sure none of them are touching. Also the actual connector that plugs into the light box was a bit dodgy. Just have a go yourself and you should get it fixed.

I had problems with the right light box on a Mk1 1995 punto elx.

we failed a fiat punto on the m.o.t at my work for the exact same problem i just took the back lights off cleand the connections and found one of the bulbs was in the wrong way round sending the hole lot daft after cleaning the connections and bulb it worked fine
