Technical High Pitched sound

Hi guys,

My Mk 1 is making a high pitched sound (which i can only describe as kind of like when you hit the triangle musical instrument - but louder), when I accelerate. its not all the time, but i do notice it in low gears.
The sound sounds like it is coming from the right side of the drivers side in front.

Any idea what is causing this?

a really long one , that gets quieter?

I'm thinking it could be the timing belt?

IF its the timing gear.. it would do it most of the time..

Thinking about it, the sound is like that high pitched sound that made made you rub you finger around a wet glass....if that helps?

Ever done it whilst parked.

You said before about whilst accelerating..
All scenarios?

Straight..turning.. all gears and road speeds..?

Is it only when under load ????? im thinking maybe its "Pinking" which would be caused by a Lean mixture or timing out. (Just a thought)

So far I have only noticed it driving in a straight line, and in 3rd and above, going 30+

Ok.

Sounding like its NOT a traditional rotating noise.

Most things that can slip..distort.. under power will be pretty stable at that speed.

That's a good thing...right?

I think its due a service, will take it to the garage on Saturday and tell them about it. Funny thing is, drove it last night and the sound didn't happen

So about two weeks ago i get the car serviced, sound goes away. I drove the car last night and the sound returned :bang:
