Hi Guys,

Just wondering what boost you people have taken these Punto GT Turbo engines to? 1400cc. Is there a particular number that is considered safe or just hope for the best. Have a head here in bits and it doesn't look that stiff so I suspect the head gasket will be the thing to go but I may be surprised

not sure how how high you could go without damaging something , blowing off pipes etc , I’m only running standard but I suppose it would be a reliability vers peformance thing .

Yeah no worries - my one has a Motec M1 ecu in it now so will find out pretty quickly where the limit is but was just wondering what people have tried thus far.

the engine with plenty of cash thrown at it can support a lot of power. As a completely stock engine with stock internals turbo and injectors your probably gonna top out around 160-170hp and it be safe.
The engine can make a heck of a lot more power though, depends what you wanna spend though. change the turbo and injectors and some supporting mods like exhaust, intercooler, intake etc a decent map should see up around 180-200hp.
Beyond that you'd want to be thinking about forged internals and the like, but the engines can make 300+hp with enough dollar thrown at fancy parts
