So, car is running great, great heat and no smoke or missing. I have read up on fiatfourms and I have installed a temp guage and sensor from a car with one(75elx)

The guage lights up, but it isn't showing the right temp. It says the car is cool. I know the guage is working as when I ground it out it goes to the top.
Any help?

my guess would be its connected up to the temp sender that the overheat warning light is for which is a switch style rather than resistor. So assuming that is what sensor you have connected it to you will need to change it for a resistor type that gradually changes with heat rather than just switching at hot hot.

Congrats, looks like a simple job well executed, and the car is now running as it was intended! It's amazing how many threads there have been all over the forum where a head gasket has gone and the owner is looking for a new engine..

I think it's a good call from Blu about the temperature reading, hopefully that will sort your nice little upgrade. (y)

I changed it out of my 16v sporting with the red tip. Definitely a sensor and not the switch type. I've tried 3 now...

But I might be on to something. I've seen that allot of people have the same problem with that they put in the fuel and heat guage out of one clock into the cars orginal( which I have done)
I think there is a slight difference in the printed circuit on the back that is different to the 60s clock.
I have seen at least 6 threads with the same symptoms as me, but one fixed it with a different clock.
I'm going to do a bit of digging tonight

So from what I have done the last 2 nights. A temp guage will only work with the same printed circuit. ie a 60s clock will not work if you put a temp guage in. I swapped out the whole clocks from an elx and it was a plug and play application. I changed the milage speedo back and fire away.

This might be helpful to someone in the future!
Car running flawlessly, the car even has the 866 cam as it's a 99 car so it's a bit nippy er than my cinq sporting, but then there a different leauge of car anyway

Thanks for the help!

So, I have a rotten mk1 sporting there, and I was reading about electric windows. Have any of the done the conversion.
Do I need the whole dash loom?
I am going to put the whole interior out of the sporting Into the 60s and it has all in it. I thought I would be nice to have electric windows
Any help, insight to this?

I still can't help thinking it's a shame to upgrade / customise such a tidy and original car. I love the blue /green interior with the green exterior, 1 really wanted to find those same colours for my emerald green Brava instead of the spotty grey velour that came with the Formula model.

What colour is the Sporting interior? Blue I suppose? If it's really nice and you're keen to use it (and junk the rest of the car) then I suppose it could make sense, it seems that you could do it fairly easily.

Have you got your wheel centres yet ???

No wheel centers yet, on the way!
The interior is tidy, and I feel like your right with the interior. I want electric windows and to do that I'll have to swap the whole dash loom, alot of work so I'm leaning against it at the moment!

I want to put a 16v in one as I have loom keys ecu etc. But it won't be this one ?

Had a yellow 16v cinq, sold it unfortunately and I regret it. I have a black spi seicento sporting with head gone so I'll be putting a 16v in that I think

Have a mk2 punto hlx ?? this car is getting a 16v/ sporting conversion, I am going swapping dash looms also for electric windows and central locking. Will be a big project, but this shell Is too clean and sporting s are getting rare, so why not reshell one?
