Fiat Punto Mk1 intermittent problem low mileage punto 50K

1 Engine cuts out and while driving it and can’t restart it while hot.
2 Can’t (intermittent) restart engine when it’s hot.

Sounds like it could be the camshaft sensor.
on a mk1? i stand to be corrected but none of the mk1 engines have cam sensor do they...

Crankshaft sensor is failing
This would be my first guess also, they are pretty sensitive to heat when they start failing, heat soak through the block to the sensor and they stop working. With the limited info that would be my guess anyway.

It is an Mk1 1997.
From old post here it would seem to be the crank-shaft-sensor as others had identical problem. I have replaced it 2 times in the last 2yrs and only done 5k. in the interval. Ordered a new one once again and see what happens.
Tks for help everyone.

I meant crankshaft sensor!

It’s a 1200 cc Mk1 and I have since replaced the cam-shaft-sensor with a new one and this has solved the problem. I did not see the recommendation of using a Magneti Marelli replacement previous to I purchasing a motaquip part on line. Indeed reliability and durability for such a key part should be the priority and I did not know of this brands reliability previous. The previous ones were Fiat parts purchased from a Fiat dealership
Tks again for all the assistance.
