So I sold my GT and bought this...

...for a £184.99

I haven't heard from the seller yet but I hope to collect the car Friday, tart it up with GT bits from my shed and turn it around in time for someone to use a Winter runner or Christmas present.

My thoughts are the Mk2 HGT had a JTD option and as this is basically a 1.7 version of the 1.4 GT 128 Gen II lump it could be as much fun with a little tuning and attention.

I've trawled the thread looking for tuning options for the 1.7TD but they are limited. Even the pre-JTD 1.9 used the same turbo as the 1.7 so no boost cranking or bigger injectors from there.

My basic aim is for GT style with TD economy. I won't be doing anything too exteme...

Finally heard back from the seller and collection Friday is on. :)

The plan is a quick turn around and sale to pay for Christmas. I could do with my own plasma cutter.

You could always buy it when I'm done.

The Fiat Forum price will be how much I have spent and no more.

Car - £184.99 + £15 collection from Norwich
Wheels - £80
Exhaust - ???
Bumpers and paint - £20

So if I don't fit a back box £300 all in. :)

Would make a tidy Winter burner for anyone who takes their car off the salt grit and squit roads. ;)

As it's a common rail with a turbo that does work but makes very little difference I'm not going to do anything mechanical to it apart from may sort the exhaust out.

I'll swap the abs bumpers for the ones from the silver car complete with reverse parking sensors (painting those black tonight at work).

The battery didn't hold a charge on the drive home so I've put my spare on for now.

The driver side headlight is glued together and the passenger side reflector is crusty so I'll swap those for my best H4 spare pair as well.

Tuning is as limited as the amount of space I have to work with I suspect but it has just under three quarters of a tank of diesel so I won't even need to take the cap off let alone cover myself with the stench trying to work on it.

Has it power steering? I could do with another car for the wife getting to work and not using the kuga but she won't drive my punto cos it doesn't have power steering

Yes it does. The 1.7TD is basically the same as the GT only with a bigger bore and stroke. Proper mechanical pump power steering so no "City Mode" fuses to worry about.

Bravo alloys, locking wheel bolts and some gratuitous "for sale" shots. ;)

Next?

There's a charity tack day in November and I want to either have my Bravo or Coupe ready for it.

Sold and took an interesting part exchange. ;)

The Cinquecento obviously. Rolling on the bump stops reminded me of a Mini for the first few hundred miles, annoyed the crap out of me the rest of the way home.

Uncut springs in my shed and I have already brokered a swap from 899cc to 3,969cc.

always had a soft spot for a white cinq (y) had a poke around for rust yet? how is it?

Solid apart from where the joins are on the lower windscreen panel. Easy enough but tanking the screen out and back without cracking it is the challenge.

So to conclude.

Total project cost...

£283

Sold for Cinquecento valued at £300 and £150 cash.

I actually made a profit for a change. :worship:
