leaking fuel pipe

so im just about to sell one of my mk1s and i went and removed most of the gasoline and when i placed pipe back on the fuel pump it leaks, before it wasnt leaking, any way to fix this without dropping fuel tank? is there some sort of sealant needed on mk1 cuz i see a rope looking thing- the one used in plumbing- twisted around the fuel pump neck

right pipe

+1 in respect of the bare wire: Fix that before you do anything else!

I assume that you just disconnected the outlet pipe (on right with red arrow), and it leaked when you reconnected it, in which case there is no reason to drop the tank. There is no seal required for these pipes, but they do need to be clean to seal. However, there should be a rubber seal around the neck of the fuel pump. You can see the seal on my recent post: https://www.fiatforum.com/punto/440243-fuel-pump-fix-2.html

Second job (after fixing that wire) is to check the inside of the female connector for dirt which may be causing the problem.

so it wasnt that pipe that was leaking, but infact there was hairline crack in the fuel pump, lucky i had a spare one
