Ah that'll explain why I couldn't work out what it was for, never seen one of those before!

yep, usually disappeared eons ago but it just goes down near the alternator and as the alternator spins is causes a low pressure zone which means nice cold air gets drawn down that pipe to keep it cool. Not really required in UK climate really but as its there just leave it - nice original touch
