Does anyone now whether a mk1 GT engine could slip straight into a mk2 engine bay and anyone no how much id be looking at (cost wise) for a resonably good engine?

dont know if thay fit but van aken or whatever is said under fiat in the back of max power do a 1.4 turbo for £1500 or novitec do a 220bhp+ 1.6 turbo for about £5000 both are on the net and can give you advice

It doesn't go straight in, the engine mounts need changing plus it sits very low down (sump about 2" from the floor) so may need lifting too. For the overall price over performance you'd do better buying an HGT engine.
