right, heres the idea, i have a 1.2 16v mk1 punto, it pushes out 86bhp, now the 1.6 sporting pushes out only 90bhp but is both faster in acceleration and top speed, goin on that the bhp is about the same thers no point swapin the car, so will the 1.6 sportings gearbox fit the 1.2 16v?

anyone done this??

I'm a 1.6 Sporting owner. It seems that most things engine related are very unique to the model so I'd be amazed if the gearbox fitted both cars! The nice thing about the 1.6 is the amount of low revs torque.

Yeah, the gear box will fit straight on no problems. As far as I remember the Mk2 gear box also fits.
