General Punto cabrio roof issue

Hi everyone just joined after buying a 1.6 Cabrio a few days ago I have a problem with the hood having to be forced to join the windscreen by forcing up the mid section of the side rubbers it's as if the joint nearest the windscreen hasn't quite popped up enough, how do I adjust this ? The fabric looks pretty new btw also my electric windows don't fit into the rubber groove of the hood but sit on the outside

Hi there. Newbie here so please be patient with me!

I have a '97 Cabrio and broke the roof by using it when it was frosty. I was told the metal bars had bent. We managed to get it to close but I want to get it repaired. The soft top itself is in great condition. Does anyone know if this can be repaired in situ without dismantling the whole roof? The first post in this thread is interesting as it might give me some pointers on fixing it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks for your help.

Shame - I scrapped a good frame with worn out cover. Lots suffer that fate - any scrapper on ebay - so you should be able to find a good mechanism. Find a body shop that's experienced with hoods - I know a good one in Devon - where are you?

I had exactly the same issue with the middle bar when lowering my roof. This is how I solved it:

To buy:
Hardware store: 1m elastic cord 5/6mm color black if available. Costing me 80 euro cents.

Tools:
Two pincers
Scissors / knife
Lighter

Open the roof till the first part is vertical. From the middle bar you’ll see a black strap running backwards on each side. Remove the strap by bending the metal piece with two pincers.
Once removed, cut the elastic cord in two. Take one piece and push through the black “seat-belt” loop, where the metal piece from the strap was before. Tie both ends together with a reef knot.
I started with no tension on the cord and the middle bar as far backwards as possible. Do the same for the other side.

Close the roof and check the tension on the cord. Open the roof and check if the middle bar flips backwards by it self. If not tie ends closer to each other. Try again till the middle bar flips back by it self.

Once happy, cut and burn the loose ends. Mission accomplished.

Good luck.
