Hallo everybody greetings from Greece...As the title says i want to put the 1.6 16 marea/bravo engine to my mk1 punto..I am going to do this with a friend help but we dont know lots about it..but if u dont try u never know..So expect from engine/gearbox/ecu/loom am i gonna need anything custom to do?

Well, it's not a great engine.

If I was going to all that bother, I'd look for an Alfa 155/156, a 2 litre FIAT Coupe or a Punto GT or Uno Turbo engine to stick in. Somewhere on You Tube there are a couple of Greek brothers who stuck one in a Cinquecento......... Hatsis? Xaxis? They are, or were, something to do with Greek Dragster.

Well im not doing this for the power.but my 1.2 8valve engine broke down head gasket and 3 valves(2ex-1in) also the engine have 350000km till now...so if i reposition the engine it will cost me about 800-900€..i found this engine about 200€(1,2 16v) 300€(1.6 16v)..gt and unos that is for sale are really in bad condition and the coupes and alfa are very rare and the engine from the coupe depents the condition they are the price is from 500€ to 1500€ only for engine!!!!

can't say i know anything about these engines either.. Why not use a 1.2 16v, your just making a punto that already exists then so everything you need should be easily obtainable and no unforseen mods to make things fit etc. The 1.2 16v is a good engine too, a different world to the 8v 1.2

Sounds like a pain in the cheeks to me. The 1.6 16v is the same engine used in the mkII Punto hlx. I don't know if the Fiat/Alfa modular engine will fit the premodular MkI Punto platform.

If it does it's only 110bhp.

Be sure to let us know how you get on. Good luck. ;)
