Yep. Not a DIY job, especially as the guides are probably cast iron (which is why that one got fluked). If you're lucky, only that one will need doing.

Your local motor factor is probably the best to ask for somewhere to do it -- most towns will have at least one place that does nothing other than skim heads, re-bore engines, fit new valve guides for the trade (and often the cheaper end of it like Taxis).

I've just paid £150 for another head only done 45000 miles if I knew i could just get valve guide replaced I would of paid for that instead

Can I put the head straight on and put my original camshaft on it would it be ok or would I have to have shims

you'll need to measure it, if you are really lucky you will be able to make do by swapping them around. But if not Big Mick sells them and they are not expensive

I'd skim, cut in the valves, and shim. Should be good for another 50k miles.
